El cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) es una planta tropical de alto impacto ecológico, económico y social en México. Sin embargo, su rendimiento ha disminuido debido a la baja tecnificación del cultivo, la avanzada edad de las plantaciones y al ataque de plagas y enfermedades. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar la actividad microbiana en los diferentes tratamientos donde se aplicó vermicomposta y el hongo micorrízico arbuscular Rhizophagus intraradices para conocer los efectos en el crecimiento y nutrición de plántulas de cacao en fase de invernadero. Se utilizaron los sustratos vermicomposta y Peat Moss en concentraciones de 25 y 50% y el Instructivo Técnico de Producción con y sin aplicación del hongo micorrízico. En cada tratamiento se determinó el crecimiento, la nutrición de las plantas y la actividad microbiana. Los mejores resultados se obtuvieron en los tratamientos con 50% vermicomposta y 50% vermicomposta + Peat Moss, con incrementos de la actividad microbiana, fósforo foliar y número de esporas del hongo micorrízico. Las plantas inoculadas con micorriza incrementaron su altura y mejoraron su estado nutricional en fase de invernadero.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT. Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a tropical plant with high ecological, economic and social impact in Mexico. However, its yield has decreased due to the low technification of the crop, the advanced age of the plantations and pest attack and diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the microbial activity in different treatments where vermicompost and the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Rhizophagus intraradices were applied and to know the effects on growth and nutrition of cocoa seedlings in greenhouse phase. Vermicompost and Peat Moss substrates were used in concentrations of 25 and 50% and the Technical Instruction on Production with and without the application of the mycorrhizal fungus. Growth, plant nutrition and microbial activity were determined in each treatment. The best results were obtained in treatments with 50% vermicompost and 50% vermicompost + Peat Moss, with increases in microbial activity, foliar phosphorus and number of spores of the mycorrhizal fungus. The plants inoculated with the mycorrhiza increased their height and improved their nutritional status in greenhouse phase.]]></p></abstract>
