En el manejo de los bosques, la estimación confiable y precisa de la altura de los árboles es imprescindible. Por lo anterior, el objetivo fue ajustar ecua ciones locales y generalizadas de altura total-diámetro normal para Pinus patula Schl. et Cham. en el ejido Monte Grande, municipio de Ixhuacán de los Reyes, Veracruz, México. Con información de 1 825 pares de datos de altura total-diámetro normal provenientes de 150 sitios de muestreo con dimensión de 500 m2 del inventario forestal, se ajustaron nueve ecuaciones de altura total-diámetro normal de tipo local y tres generalizadas. La selección de la ecuación, se realizó al verificar el mayor coeficiente de determinación ajustado, la menor raíz del cuadrado medio del error y la significancia de los parámetros, además de constatar el cumplimiento de los supuestos de regresión de normalidad, homocedasticidad y auto-correlación. Las ecuaciones locales explican el 62.2% de la variabilidad muestral, mientras que, las ecuaciones generalizadas describen el 74.3% al agregar la altura media del sitio, sin violación de los supuestos de regresión. El sesgo promedio por estimación fue de 0.046 y 0.285 m para la expresión local y generalizada, respectivamente. El análisis gráfico de las estimaciones en todos los casos mostró tendencias adecuadas a la variabilidad de la muestra, por lo cual, podrán ser empleadas de forma confiable para predecir con precisión la altura total en función del diámetro normal en rodales de P. patula, ya sea en los inventarios forestales o la estimación del volumen en los programas de manejo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT. In forest management, reliable and accurate estimation of tree height is essential. Therefore, the objective was to adjust local and generalized equations of total height-normal diameter for Pinus patula Schl. et Cham. in the ejido Monte Grande, municipality of Ixhuacán de los Reyes, Veracruz, Mexico. With information of 1 825 pairs of full height-normal diameter data from 150 sampling sites with a dimension of 500 m2 from the forest inventory, nine local-type and three generalized height-normal diameter equations were adjusted. The selection of the best equation was made by verifying the highest adjusted coefficient of determi nation, the lowest root of the mean square of the error and the significance of the parameters, in addition to verifying compliance with the normality, homoscedasticity and self-regression assumptions. correlation. The local equations explain 62.2% of the sample variability, while the generalized equations describe 74.3% by adding the variables of average site height, where there is no violation of the regression assumptions. The average bias per estimate is 0.046 and 0.285 m for local and generalized expression, respectively.
