<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-90282018000300523&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-90282018000300523&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-90282018000300523&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Four experimental diets or treatments formed with incremental proportions of the foliage of tropical shrub legume Cratylia argentea and decremental proportions of Tanner grass (Brachiaria arrecta) hay: T1, 0:100; T2, 15:85; T3, 30:70; and T4, 45:55 were evaluated using four Holstein-Zebu bullocks (214.5 ± 9.3 kg) confined in individual pens, under a balanced 4x4 latin square design. The crude protein (CP, %) content of C. argentea was 19.3 ± 6%, and in the grass was 6.2 ± 3%. The intake of DM increased as the C. argentea level in the diet increased. Blood urea-N (BUN) showed a linear increase from T1 to T4, observing its highest concentration at feeding time and six-hours after in T4: 12.00 and 14.75 mg dL-1, respectively. Purine derivatives (uric acid and allantoin) were not affected by treatments (p &gt; 0.05). The increase of the legume in the diet improved the DM intake and digestibility, and led to N-balance from negative in T1 and T2, to positive in T3 and T4. The legume proportion in a basal diet of the grass B. arrecta must be 30% at least.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Se evaluaron cuatro dietas experimentales formadas con proporciones (%) crecientes de follaje seco de la leguminosa arbustiva tropical Cratylia argentea y proporciones decrecientes de heno de pasto Tanner (Brachiaria arrecta): T1, 0:100; T2, 15:85; T3, 30:70; y T4, 45:55, empleando cuatro toretes Holstein-Cebú (214.5 ± 9.3 kg) confinados en jaulas individuales bajo un diseño de cuadrado latino 4x4 balanceado. Los contenidos de proteína cruda (PC, %) de la leguminosa y el pasto fueron de 19.3 ± 6% y 6.2 ± 3%, respectivamente. El consumo de materia seca (MS) aumentó al incrementar el nivel de C. argentea en la dieta ofrecida. El N ureico en sangre mostró un incremento lineal de T1 a T4, con su concentración más alta en T4 tanto en muestras tomadas al momento de ofrecer las dietas a los animales, como 6 horas después, con valores respectivos de 12.00 y 14.75 mg dL-1. El tratamiento no afectó (p &gt; 0.05) los niveles de derivados de purinas (ácido úrico y alantoína). El aumento de la proporción de leguminosa en la dieta incrementó el consumo y digestibilidad de la MS y llevó a un balance de N negativo en T1 y T2, a positivo en T3 y T4. La proporción de leguminosa en la dieta basal de B. arrecta debe ser al menos de 30%.]]></p></abstract>
