Empleando palabras clave como: actividad antimicrobiana, antioxidante, antibacteriana y anticancerígena se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en libros y artículos de investigación de los buscadores científicos PubMed, World Wide Science, Google Scholar y Springer Link; para describir aspectos generales y ejemplos de los beneficios en la salud de la miel. Estudios in vitro e in vivo han demostrado una relación positiva entre las características fisicoquímicas y la composición fitoquímica de la miel con el efecto benéfico en el tratamiento de afecciones leves como cicatrización de heridas, hasta procesos complejos de inflamación, estrés oxidativo o infecciones microbianas. Así, la miel de abejas sin aguijón representa un producto con potencial terapéutico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The main pollinators of the wild flora are stingless bees and nest products such as collected pollen, propolis and mainly honey; these have been used in the daily diet and even better in traditional medicine. Using keywords such as: antimicrobial, antioxidant, antibacterial and anticancer activity, a literature review was carried out in books and research articles from the scientific search engines PubMed, World Wide Science, Google Scholar and Springer Link to describe general aspects and examples of the benefits in the health of honey. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown a positive relationship between the physicochemical characteristics and the phytochemical composition of honey with the beneficial effect in the treatment of mild conditions such as wound healing, even complex inflammation processes, oxidative stress, or microbial infections. Thus, stingless bee honey represents a potentially therapeutic product.]]></p></abstract>
