</abstract>

The economic recession was exacerbated by the sars-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, which has undermined development efforts globally. The current state of the Japanese economy has been aggravated by two critical factors: the aging population and the low birth rate. Given the importance of Japan in the international arena, this work aims to analyze these two factors closely linked to issues of poverty and hopelessness among young people based on the risk society approach proposed by Ulrich Beck and with a qualitative methodology that allows us to understand how Japanese society faces serious economic and social risks due to the drastic decline in its young population.
</abstract>
