Se emplea el método empírico-analítico para identificar actores centrales y explicar la importancia geopolítica de la región, se analizan también las políticas gubernamentales de China, el papel de la diáspora uigur y las distintas reacciones de la comunidad internacional ante el conflicto. En el artículo se enfatiza que el Gobierno chino percibe una amenaza creciente de grupos con potencial extremista y capacidades de organización transfronteriza y por ende aplica medidas de coerción y restringe libertades civiles. El Gobierno de China justifica las políticas implementadas en Xinjiang por razones de seguridad nacional y aborda el tema como un conflicto doméstico; sin embargo, el problema ha comenzado a tomar relevancia a nivel internacional y aun con el temor de represalias (principalmente económicas), distintos países se han manifestado en contra de las políticas gubernamentales de China en Xinjiang.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The main objective of this article is to analyze the conflict in Xinjiang, China. The empiricalanalytical method allowed us to identify central actors and emphasize the geopolitical importance of the region, the government policies of China, the prevailing human rights situation, the role of the Uyghur Diaspora and the different reactions of the international community. The results of the investigation indicate that the Chinese government perceives a growing threat from groups with extremist potential and cross-border organizing capabilities and therefore applies coercion measures and restricts civil liberties. The government of China justifies the policies implemented in Xinjiang for national security reasons and addresses the issue as a domestic conflict; however, the problem has begun to gain relevance at the international level and even with the fear of reprisals (mainly economic), different countries and actors have spoken out against China&#8217;s government policies in Xinjiang.]]></p></abstract>
