La educación médica se vio particularmente afectada con la suspensión de actividades presenciales para la prevención de contagios. Como resultado, se desarrollaron e implementaron diversas modalidades y estrategias para adaptarse a la nueva situación.  Objetivo: Describir las actividades académicas y de evaluación en alumnos del quinto año de la carrera de Medicina durante de pandemia por COVID-19 en México.  Método:  Se aplicó un cuestionario autoadministrado de 40 preguntas para recopilar información sobre las actividades académicas y de evaluación, llevadas a cabo por su institución educativa durante la pandemia. Las variables se describieron mediante la mediana, el rango intercuartílico, la frecuencia y la proporción. Se realizó la prueba de proporciones inmediato para evaluar diferencias entre sexo.  Resultados:  De los 541 participantes, más del 80.0% reportó la interrupción de actividades del entrenamiento médico y quirúrgico, así como modificaciones en las rotaciones hospitalarias. Si bien el 86.9% llevó a cabo las actividades en línea, solo el 38.5% se sintió satisfecho con dicha experiencia. Los métodos de evaluación más empleados fueron los exámenes, la participación en sesiones y el portafolio de evidencias. Además, se observó un aumento significativo en el promedio escolar durante el regreso a clases presenciales.  Conclusiones:  Los resultados de este estudio describen los cambios necesarios que las instituciones académicas del área de la salud implementaron para adaptarse a la pandemia. La educación en línea e híbrida han abierto oportunidades para la innovación pedagógica y exploración de estrategias efectivas de aprendizaje y evaluación que permitan el desarrollo de competencias en los estudiantes del área de la salud a pesar de las condiciones epidemiológicas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction:  The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the world, changing how we live and learn. Medical education was particularly affected by suspending in-person activities to prevent infections. As a result, various modalities and strategies were developed and implemented to adapt to the new situation.  Objective:  to describe the academic and evaluation activities of Medicine fifth-year medical students during the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico.  Method:  A self-administered questionnaire of 40 questions was applied to collect information about their educational institution&#8217;s academic and evaluation activities during the pandemic. The variables were described using the median, interquartile range, frequency, and proportion. The immediate proportions test was performed to evaluate differences between sexes.  Results:  Of the 541 participants, more than 80.0% reported interrupting medical and surgical training activities and modifying hospital rotations. Although 86.9% completed the activities online, only 38.5% felt satisfied with the experience. The most frequently used evaluation methods were exams, session participation, and a portfolio of evidence. In addition, a significant increase in the school average was observed during the return to in-person classes.  Conclusions:  The results of this study demonstrate the necessary changes that academic institutions in the health area implemented to adapt to the pandemic. Online and hybrid education has opened opportunities for pedagogical innovation and for exploring effective learning and assessment strategies that allow the development of competencies in health students despite epidemiological conditions.]]></p></abstract>
