We assessed the alpha component using different facets, taxonomic and phylogenetic. In Mexico, more than half of the genera of the Heliantheae tribe are included in a phylogeny, and a taxonomically curated geographic database is available, facilitating their study under these concepts.  Question: Where is the greatest alpha diversity of Heliantheae genera concentrated in Mexico from a taxonomic and phylogenetic perspective?  Data description: Geographic data of 75 genera of Heliantheae in Mexico (gamma diversity) and phylogeny including 45 Mexican genera.  Study site: Mexico, divided into a grid of 253 cells 1° of latitude and longitude.  Methods: We analyzed 22,166 records for Heliantheae to determine alpha taxonomic richness and weighted endemism. Phylogenetic diversity and endemism were evaluated using 13,251 records from 45 genera included in the molecular data phylogeny obtained with U.PhyloMaker. We analyzed and performed maps using Biodiverse and QGIS programs.  Results: Twenty cells with high alpha diversity values were identified, 11 placed in the Mexican mountainous regions and nine in the arid or semiarid areas. A high correlation exists between alpha taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity.  Conclusions: Including missing taxa in phylogeny could change the biogeographic patterns of taxonomic and phylogenetic endemism. All indices are necessary to select priority areas for the conservation of the tribe and associated biodiversity.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen:  Antecedentes: La biodiversidad se describe considerando sus componentes alfa (riqueza local de taxones), beta (diferencia de taxones entre localidades) o gamma (riqueza regional). Se evaluó el componente alfa utilizando dos diferentes perspectivas, taxonómica y filogenética. En México, más de la mitad de los géneros de la tribu Heliantheae se incluyen en una filogenia y se cuenta con una base de datos geográfica curada taxonómicamente, que facilitan su estudio bajo estos conceptos.  Pregunta: ¿Dónde hay mayor diversidad alfa de géneros de Heliantheae bajo un enfoque taxonómico y filogenético?  Descripción de datos: Datos geográficos de 75 géneros de Heliantheae en México (diversidad gamma) y una filogenia con 45 géneros mexicanos.  Sitio de estudio: México, dividido en una retícula de 253 celdas con 1° de latitud y longitud.  Métodos: Se analizaron 22,166 registros de 75 géneros de Heliantheae para la riqueza taxonómica alfa y el endemismo ponderado. La diversidad y el endemismo filogenéticos se evaluaron utilizando 13,251 registros de 45 géneros incluidos en la filogenia molecular obtenida de U.PhyloMaker. Los análisis y mapas se realizaron en los programas Biodiverse y QGIS.  Resultados: Veinte celdas mostraron valores de diversidad alfa elevados, 11 de ellas ubicadas en zonas montañosas y nueve en zonas áridas y semiáridas de México. Una correlación significativa se observó entre la diversidad taxonómica y filogenética.  Conclusiones: Incluir taxones faltantes en la filogenia podría cambiar los patrones biogeográficos del endemismo taxonómico y filogenético. Todos los índices son necesarios para elegir áreas prioritarias para la conservación de la tribu y la biodiversidad asociada.]]></p></abstract>
