Hypotheses:  There will be more medicinal introduced species that will have more versatility than native ones; home-gardens will have more availability of them than the forest.  Study site and dates:  San Pedro Topiltepec (SPT), San Andrés Nuxiño (SAN), Oaxaca, September 2015-March 2017.  Methods:  Medicinal flora and its uses were inventoried by community, recording availability (socioecological system) and status (native/introduced) by species. Informant consensus factor and relative value estimated information similarity among informants; use value (UV) indicated species versatility. Hot-cold conditions were recorded by species and disease.  Results:  Species and diseases were 64 (75 % native, 25 % introduced) and 134 in SAN, 81 (52 % native, 48 % introduced) and 177 in SPT, respectively. In SAN 58 % species were available in forests, in SPT 62 % species were available in home gardens. UV was higher for native plants in SAN and for introduced plants in SPT. Hot-cold dichotomy influenced selection of medicinal plants in both communities.  Conclusions:  Both communities belong the same ethnicity, select medicinal plants differently. SAN uses a higher proportion of native plants, forests have higher species availability, native plants are the most versatile. SPT uses similar proportions of native and introduced plants, home gardens have more availability, introduced plants are the most versatile.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Antecedentes:  La concepción caliente-frío es importante en la relación planta-enfermedad en comunidades campesinas, donde las especies introducidas adquieren usos medicinales y mayor disponibilidad en sistemas antropocéntricos que las nativas; cómo son seleccionan se estudia con índices, las hipótesis que contribuyen a teorías rara vez se prueban.  Hipótesis:  Habrá más especies medicinales introducidas con más versatilidad que las nativas; habrá mayor disponibilidad de ellas en huertos que en bosques.  Lugar y fechas del estudio:  San Pedro Topiltepec (SPT), San Andrés Nuxiño (SAN), Oaxaca, septiembre 2015-marzo 2017.  Métodos:  Inventariamos la flora medicinal y sus usos por comunidad, registrando disponibilidad (sistema socioecológico) y estatus (nativa/introducida) por especie. Estimamos similitud de información entre informantes con factor de consenso del informante y valor relativo, versatilidad con valor de uso. Registramos la condición caliente-frío por especie y enfermedad.  Resultados:  Las especies y enfermedades fueron 64 (75 % nativas, 25 introducidas) y 134 en SAN, 81 (52 % nativas, 48 % introducidas) y 177 en SPT, respectivamente. En SAN 58 % de las especies están en bosques y en SPT 62 % están en huertos. VU fue mayor para especies nativas en SAN y para introducidas en SPT. La dicotomía caliente-frío influencía la selección de plantas en ambas comunidades.  Conclusiones:  Ambas comunidades pertenecen a la misma etnia, seleccionan diferentemente plantas medicinales. SAN tiene mayor proporción de plantas nativas, mayor disponibilidad en el bosque, las nativas son más versátiles.
