Objective  To analyze the dynamics of LCLUC in a micro-watershed of the Pantepec river in the Otomí-Tepehua region, Hidalgo, for the period 1993-2018.  Materials and methods  Using vector data from series II (1993), IV (2007), and VII (2018) from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) and an unsupervised classification in QGIS 2.18.10, seven categories of land use and land cover were identified. The MOLUSCE (Modules for Land Use Change Evaluation) tool in QGIS 2.18.10 was used to obtain change matrices and maps. Consequently, the rate of change, loss, gain, total and net change, and exchange between categories were calculated for three analysis periods.  Results and discussion From 1993 to 2018 there was a process of loss and gain for cloud forest with a rate of change of -3.21 %, driven by induced grassland and rainfed agriculture with rates of change of 3.75 and -2.38 % respectively. Over 25 years, rainfed agriculture decreased by 57 % in area, while induced grassland expanded by 251 %.  Conclusions  Land use categories with significant changes are located around San Bartolo Tutotepec, influenced by anthropogenic activities. There are variations in the forest categories, attributed to changes in the INEGI classification methodology between series II, IV and VII.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción  El análisis del cambio de cobertura y uso del suelo (CCUS) permite la identificación de factores que generan cambios en los ecosistemas.  Objetivo  Analizar la dinámica del CCUS en una microcuenca del río Pantepec en la región Otomí-Tepehua, Hidalgo, durante el periodo 1993-2018.  Materiales y métodos  Con datos vectoriales de la serie II (1993), IV (2007) y VII (2018) del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) y mediante una clasificación no supervisada en QGIS 2.18.10, se identificaron siete categorías de uso de suelo y cobertura vegetal. La herramienta MOLUSCE (Modules for Land Use Change Evaluation) de QGIS 2.18.10 se empleó para la obtención de matrices y mapas de cambio. Para tres periodos de análisis, se calcularon la tasa de cambio, pérdida, ganancia, cambio total y neto e intercambio entre categorías.  Resultados y discusión  Entre 1993 al 2018 existió un proceso de pérdida y ganancia en el bosque mesófilo de montaña con una tasa de cambio de -3.21 %, impulsado por el pastizal inducido y la agricultura de temporal con tasas de cambio de 3.75 y -2.38 % respectivamente. En 25 años, la agricultura de temporal perdió 57 % de superficie y el pastizal inducido aumentó 251 %.  Conclusiones  Las categorías de usos de suelo con cambios significativos se ubican en los alrededores de San Bartolo Tutotepec, influenciadas por actividades antrópicas. Existen variaciones en las categorías de bosque, atribuidas a cambios en la metodología de clasificación del INEGI entre las series II, IV y VII.]]></p></abstract>
