Objective:  To evaluate hardening in Pinus rudis Endl. plants with different levels of phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and soluble fertilizer (SF) in irrigation.  Materials and methods: A completely randomized design was used to test levels 0, 50 and 100 % higher than the basic dose of P, K and SF (Peters Professional® 4-25-35 of N, P and K, respectively); the effect was measured in plant morphometry and nutrient content. An analysis of variance and mean separation was performed with Tukey&#8217;s test (P &lt; 0.05). Changes in nutrient accumulation in plants were detected by graphical vector analysis.  Results and discussion:  Ten months after the hardening process, the seedlings had a root collar diameter of 4.8 to 5.5 mm, aerial dry weight of 4.2 to 4.4 g and root dry weight of 1.1 to 1.2 g. The doses of P, K and FS did not affect the morphometry of the plant, but did affect the concentration of nutrients. Vector analysis detected luxury nutrient consumption in the order P &gt; N &gt; K. The highest nutrient contents were achieved with SF at a level of 100 % above the basic dose (4-25-35).  Conclusion:  Hardening of P. rudis plants is possible through fertilization management. The process led to additional reserves in the foliage.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción:  Una estrategia para mejorar la calidad de la planta es el endurecimiento mediante fertilización, que consiste en propiciar la acumulación de nutrimentos.  Objetivo:  Evaluar el endurecimiento en plantas de Pinus rudis Endl. con distintos niveles de fósforo (P), potasio (K) y fertilizante soluble (FS) en el riego.  Materiales y métodos:  El diseño fue completamente al azar, probando niveles de 0, 50 y 100 % superiores a la dosis básica de P, K y FS (Peters Professional® 4-25-35 de N, P y K, respectivamente); el efecto se midió en la morfometría de la planta y contenido de nutrimentos. Se realizó un análisis de varianza y separación de medias con la prueba de Tukey (P &lt; 0.05). Los cambios de acumulación de nutrientes en la planta se detectaron mediante un análisis gráfico de vectores.  Resultados y discusión:  Diez meses después del proceso de endurecimiento, las plántulas tuvieron diámetro al cuello de raíz de 4.8 a 5.5 mm, peso seco aéreo de 4.2 a 4.4 g y peso seco de raíces de 1.1 a 1.2 g. Las dosis de P, K y FS no afectaron la morfometría de la planta, pero sí la concentración de nutrimentos. El análisis de vectores detectó consumo de lujo de nutrimentos en el orden P &gt; N &gt; K. Los contenidos nutrimentales más altos se lograron con FS a un nivel de 100 % por arriba de la dosis básica (4-25-35).  Conclusión:  El endurecimiento de planta de P. rudis es posible mediante el manejo de la fertilización. El proceso condujo a reservas adicionales en el follaje.]]></p></abstract>
