Desde hace más de cuarenta años los investigadores han tratado de explicar cuál es el valor adaptativo de este proceso a través del entendimiento de la relación que guarda con factores ambientales. En este documento se describe el conocimiento existente en este tema.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[SUMMARY Most perennial plants of cold-temperate zones have a dormancy period during their annual growth cycle. For over fourty years scientists have intended to explain the adaptive value of dormancy through the understanding of the relationships among bud dormancy and specific environmental factors. Current knowledge on this topic is described in this document.]]></p></abstract>
