In this study, the application of Bacillus subtilis (Bs) and Rhizoglomus intraradices (Ri) were used to assess its effect on the growth, production and quality of two hybrids of tomato (&#8216;Caporal&#8217; and &#8216;SV8579TE&#8217;) in a semi-hydroponic growing system. An experimental randomized block design with 25 replications and four treatments (T) for each hybrid was used: T1: (Control, T), T2: (Bs), T3: (Ri) and T4: (Bs+Ri). The parameters evaluated were: seedling height, stem diameter, number of bunches, number of fruits, green index, fruit quality and total production. The data were processed using analysis of variance and Fisher&#8217;s Protected LSD test, with a significance level of 5 %. The results showed that simple inoculation of Bs and Ri stimulated growth and fruiting indicators in both hybrids, but a superior response was found in the presence of co-inoculation, with significant increases in total production. The use of B. subtilis and R. intraradices can improve the production of tomato in a semi-hydroponic system.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El uso de rizobacterias y hongos micorrizógenos es una alternativa viable a implementar en los sistemas semi-hidropónicos. En este trabajo se evaluó la aplicación de Bacillus subtilis (Bs) y Rhizoglomus intraradices (Ri) sobre el crecimiento, producción y calidad de frutos de jitomate híbrido &#8216;Caporal&#8217; y &#8216;SV8579TE&#8217; en cultivo semi-hidropónico. Se utilizó un diseño experimental en bloques al azar con 25 réplicas y cuatro tratamientos (T) para cada híbrido: T1: (Testigo, T), T2: (Bs), T3: (Ri) y T4: (Bs+Ri). Los indicadores evaluados fueron: altura de las plantas, diámetro del tallo, número de racimos y frutos, índice verde, calidad de fruto y producción total. Los datos se procesaron mediante un análisis de varianza y prueba LSD de Fisher con un nivel de significación del 5 %. Los resultados mostraron que la inoculación simple de Bs y Ri estimuló los indicadores de crecimiento y fructificación en ambos híbridos, pero se encontró una respuesta superior en presencia de la co-inoculación, con incrementos significativos en la producción total. El uso de B. subtilis y R. intraradices tiende a incrementar la producción de jitomate en un sistema de semi-hidropónico.]]></p></abstract>
