It may be assumed that this healing function applies to coral as well, and that polyamines could be a marker of physiological state in these organisms. The levels of Putrescine, Spermidine and Spermine polyamines were measured in three different sites of coral reefs of the Central Mexican Pacific coasts. One of these sites, Playa Mora, exhibited a low tide which almost exposed the coral above the sea level. Tide levels and polyamines in coral samples were measured during February and October from 2012 to 2016. Surprisingly, the highest polyamines levels were measured during October, at a period when the highest tides and precipitations, were recorded with (42.91±1.40 µg/cm2 of Putrescine, 5.31±1.06 µg/cm2 of Spermidine and 12.10±0.75 µg/cm2 of Spermine). The lowest polyamines levels were observed during February, the month with the lowest tides and precipitations, with 1.35±0.16 µg/cm2 of Putrescine, 0.15±0.03 µg/cm2 of Spermidine and 0.07±0.02 µg/cm2 of Spermine. A relation between Spermidine and Spermine concentrations, and tide levels was established. It could be speculated that Polyamines levels are correlated with physiological stress levels of coral reef in these zones of the Central Mexican Pacific coast.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se cree que las poliaminas son restauradores del daño fisiológico inducido por el estrés en las plantas. Se podría suponer que esta función benéfica de curación también se aplica al coral, y que las poliaminas podrían ser un marcador del estado fisiológico en estos organismos. Los niveles de las poliaminas Putrescina, Espermidina y Espermina se midieron en tres sitios diferentes de arrecifes de coral de la costa del Pacífico Central Mexicano. Uno de estos sitios, Playa Mora, exhibió una marea baja que casi expuso al coral sobre el nivel del agua. Los niveles de marea y las poliaminas en las muestras se midieron durante febrero y octubre del año 2012 a 2016. Sorprendentemente, los niveles más altos de poliaminas (42.91±1.40 &#956;g/cm2 de Putrescina, 5.31±1.06 &#956;g/cm2 de Espermidina, y 12.10±0.75 &#956;g/cm2 de Espermina) se observaron durante octubre, una época en la que se registraron las mareas más altas y precipitación pluvial. En cambio, los niveles más bajos de poliaminas (1.35±0.16 &#956;g/cm2 de Putrescina, 0.15±0.03 &#956;g/cm2 de Espermidina, y 0.07±0.02 &#956;g/cm2 de Espermina) se vieron durante febrero, el mes con las mareas y precipitación más bajas. Se estableció la asociación entre la concentración de Espermidina y Espermina y los niveles de marea. Se podría especular que los niveles de poliaminas se correlacionan con los niveles de estrés fisiológico del arrecife de coral en estas zonas de la costa del Pacífico Central Mexicano.]]></p></abstract>
