La discusión se inserta en una literatura que ha profundizado en los determinantes socioeconómicos de la participación en ese nivel educativo. Se condujo un modelo de regresión lineal simple para medir la relación entre el índice de marginación y la tasa bruta de cobertura en las 32 entidades federativas. Los resultados advierten una fuerte asociación entre ambas variables. Así, se sostiene que una reducción en la marginación resulta en mayores oportunidades de ingreso a la educación superior. La conclusión principal es que, si bien se observan avances en esta dirección, persisten las brechas regionales. Por ello, es necesario repensar la formulación de intervenciones públicas de política social y la integración de un enfoque de brechas que fortalezca la inclusión, la equidad y la justicia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo O artigo analisa o efeito da marginalização na cobertura do ensino superior no México em 2010 e 2020. A discussão está inserida em uma literatura que tem se aprofundado nos determinantes socioeconômicos da participação no ensino superior. Um modelo de regressão linear simples foi conduzido para medir a relação entre o índice de marginalização e a taxa de cobertura bruta nos 32 estados. Os resultados mostram uma forte associação entre as duas variáveis. Assim, argumenta-se que uma redução na marginalização resulta em maiores oportunidades de admissão ao ensino superior. A principal conclusão é que, embora se observem progressos nesta direção, persistem disparidades regionais. Portanto, é necessário repensar a formulação de intervenções de políticas sociais públicas e a integração de uma abordagem de lacunas que fortaleça a inclusão, a equidade e a justiça.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article analyzes the impact of exclusion on higher education attendance in Mexico in 2010 and 2020, focusing on the socioeconomic determinants of participation. A simple linear regression model was used to assess the relationship between the marginalization index and the gross coverage rate across the 32 states of Mexico. The findings reveal a significant correlation between the two variables, indicating that reducing marginalization increases opportunities for higher education enrollment. The study concludes that despite some progress, regional disparities persist, highlighting the need to reevaluate public social policies and incorporate an approach that promotes inclusion, equity, and justice.]]></p></abstract>
