Estos supuestos se apoyan en las relaciones que existen entre la mecánica respiratoria, la actividad cardiaca, y la activación parasimpática que se le relaciona. Así, es común que estas intervenciones se basen en el control de la mecánica de la respiración, sin embargo, igual o más importante es el control de la química respiratoria, pues alteraciones en el intercambio de O2 y CO2 se asocian con el establecimiento de síntomas crónicos y con el desarrollo de estados emocionales negativos. En el presente artículo se ofrece una revisión sobre la mecánica y la química respiratoria, con el objetivo de resaltar la necesidad de considerar a esta última como elemento importante en la modulación respiratoria para el tratamiento de síndromes crónicos. Se finaliza con recomendaciones sobre la forma de desarrollar entrenamientos para modificar la química respiratoria.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract One basic assumption of breathe training-based interventions is that respiration&#8217;s control provides patients with better emotional and health states. This assumption considers the existence of relationships between respiratory mechanisms, hearth activity and related parasympathetic activity. Therefore, it is common that these interventions are oriented only to control respiratory mechanisms. However, control of respiratory chemistry has equal or even more importance than control the mechanism, because alterations on O2 - CO2 interchange are related with chronic syndromes onset, as well as with development of negative emotional states. In this paper, a review about mechanism and chemistry of respiration is shown with the aim of emphasize necessity to consider the latter as an important element in chronic syndromes&#8217; breathing-modulation treatments. Finally, we offer some recommendations for develop training programs to modulate respiratory chemistry.]]></p></abstract>
