Después de realizar las mediciones dasométricas y establecer el balance de biomasa (madera, ramas, corteza y acículas), las muestras de la madera del tronco se prepararon para su análisis químico, de acuerdo a métodos TAPPI. Con respecto al estudio dasométrico y balance de biomasa dado aquí, se sugiere que la viabilidad de aprovechamiento de los pinos estudiados fue el siguiente: P. douglasiana con el mayor contenido en biomasa (45 %), puede ser aplicado en diversos productos madereros (muebles, estructuras y laminados); para aplicaciones de la corteza (fenoles y taninos) se recomienda a P. devoniana con el contenido más alto en corteza (23 %), y para el caso de las acículas (clorofila y esencias) se propone a P. oocarpa (22 %). Por otro lado, el efecto de la composición química de la madera (holocelulosa 75.4 %, alfa celulosa 48.1 % y pentosanos 12.1 %) y de la morfología fibrosa (largo de fibra de 3.5 a 4.0 mm) sobre las propiedades fisicomecánicas en hojas de papel estándar, fue significativamente mejor en P. devoniana, lo cual la sugiere como la más viable para la obtención de pulpa y fabricación de papel Kraft.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Three pine species --Pinus douglasiana, Pinus devoniana and Pinus oocarpa-- were evaluated in a plot located in the La primavera forest, in Jalisco. After taking the dasometric measurements and establishing the biomass balance (of wood, braches, bark and needles), the stem-wood samples were prepared for chemical analysis, according to the TAPPI methods. In regard to the dasometric study and biomass balance given herein, we suggest the viability of the exploitation of the studied pine species to be as follows: P. douglasiana, with the highest biomass content (45 %), can be applied in various timber products (furniture, structures and laminated wood); P. devoniana, with the highest bark content (23 %) is recommended for bark applications (phenols and tannins), and P. oocarpa, with the highest content of needles (22 %), is proposed for chlorophyll and essences. On the other hand, the effect of the chemical composition of the wood (75.4 % holocellulose, 48.1 % alpha cellulose, and 12.1 % pentosans) on the physic-mechanical properties of standard paper sheets was significantly better in P. devoniana, which suggests it as the most viable species for pulp extraction and manufacture of kraft paper.]]></p></abstract>
