Los sistemas de crianza tradicional se caracterizan por deficiencias en la bioseguridad, lo que conlleva a la convivencia de animales de diferentes especies, favoreciendo su presencia y diseminación. En este estudio se determinó la seroprevalencia del virus de influenza A en unidades de producción porcina de traspatio en Nuevo León, México. Para esto se incluyeron 207 sueros y se analizaron mediante un kit de ELISA comercial de la marca IDEXX. Se obtuvo una seroprevalencia del 9.2 % y además los animales que viven en suelo de tierra presentan un mayor riesgo de seropositividad. En conclusión, los animales de traspatio mantienen contacto con el virus de la influenza A.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Influenza is a respiratory illness that affects both humans and pigs. Traditional farming systems are characterized by deficiencies in biosecurity, which leads to the coexistence of animals of different species, favoring the presence and spread of influenza. This study determined the seroprevalence of influenza A virus in backyard pig production units in Nuevo León, Mexico. To this purpose, 207 sera were included and analyzed using a commercial ELISA kit from IDEXX. A seroprevalence of 9.2 % was obtained; additionally, animals living on a dirt floor have a higher risk of seropositivity. In conclusion, backyard animals maintain contact with the influenza A virus.]]></p></abstract>
