BRS Lua) and forage peanut (Arachis pintoi cv. Belmonte). The treatments comprised two methods of soil management (conventional tillage, with desiccation followed by harrowing; and no-tillage, with sequential desiccation with glyphosate) and two planting spacing (50 and 100 cm between rows). The experimental design was in randomized blocks, arranged in split-plot. Both methods of soil management ensured rapid pasture establishment, with canopy cover greater than 94 % at 84 d after planting, with the no-tillage surpassing the conventional tillage, and at a cost of no-tillage 7 % lower. Reducing planting spacing from 100 cm to 50 cm accelerated canopy cover and reduced weed incidence. The initial contribution of forage peanut in the botanical composition was relatively small, declining by 3.8 % on average at 36 d after planting to less than 1.2 % at 84 d. No-tillage was as efficient in establishing mixed swards as conventional tillage.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar el efecto del método de manejo del suelo y dos distancias para el establecimiento de Cynodon nlemfuensis cv. BRS Lua en asociación con Arachis pintoi cv. Belmonte. Los tratamientos comprendieron dos métodos de manejo del suelo (plantío convencional, con desecación seguida de labranza, y siembra directa, con desecación secuencial con glifosato) y dos distancias de siembra (50 y 100 cm entre las líneas). El diseño experimental fue en bloques aleatorios, dispuestos en parcelas divididas. Ambos métodos de manejo del suelo aseguraron un rápido establecimiento del pasto, con cobertura del suelo superior al 94 % a los 84 días después de la siembra, pero la siembra directa tuvo un costo 7 % menor. La reducción del espaciamiento de 100 cm a 50 cm aceleró la cobertura del suelo y disminuyó la presencia de malezas. La contribución inicial del maní forrajero en la composición botánica fue relativamente pequeña, disminuyendo en promedio 3.8 % 36 días después de la siembra a menos de 1.2 % a los 84 días. La siembra directa de pasto fue tan eficiente para el establecimiento del pasto asociado como el plantío convencional.]]></p></abstract>
