Este estudio analizó como las variables climáticas y los precios impactan el rendimiento de sacarosa en caña fresca en el ingenio Tres Valles, Veracruz, durante 1995-2022, usando un modelo de dos ecuaciones simultáneas. El objetivo fue analizar en qué medida afectan las variables climáticas y los respectivos precios relevantes el rendimiento de la sacarosa en caña, expresada en su equivalente de caña fresca, para cuantificar la magnitud del dicho impacto. Los resultados muestran que la oscilación térmica tiene el mayor impacto positivo (elasticidad de 1.01), mientras que la radiación solar tiene el mayor impacto negativo (elasticidad de -2.06). Las emisiones de dióxido de carbono tienen un efecto positivo moderado (elasticidad de 0.78) y la precipitación un impacto positivo menor (elasticidad de 0.17). El índice de precios del azúcar de caña muestra una elasticidad positiva de 0.96, mientras que el precio al mayoreo del azúcar estándar tiene una elasticidad negativa de -0.2. Se concluyó que este tipo de estudios proporcionan información valiosa sobre la sensibilidad del rendimiento de sacarosa a factores climáticos y económicos, útil para mitigar el cambio climático.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The sugarcane agribusiness is important for food sovereignty in Mexico, but climate change affects its production and yield. This study analyzed how climatic variables and prices impact sucrose yield in fresh cane at the Tres Valles mill, Veracruz, from 1995 to 2022, using a model of two simultaneous equations. The objective was to analyze to what extent climatic variables and respective relevant prices affect the yield of sucrose in cane, expressed in its equivalent of fresh cane, in order to quantify the magnitude of this impact. The results show that thermal oscillation has the greatest positive impact (elasticity of 1.01), whereas solar radiation has the greatest negative impact (elasticity of -2.06). Carbon dioxide emissions have a moderate positive effect (elasticity of 0.78) and precipitation has a smaller positive impact (elasticity of 0.17). The index of prices of cane sugar shows a positive elasticity of 0.96, while the wholesale price of standard sugar has a negative elasticity of -0.2. It was concluded that this type of study provides valuable information on the sensitivity of sucrose yield to climatic and economic factors, useful for mitigating climate change.]]></p></abstract>
