Por tal motivo, el objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de un déficit de riego 50% (DR50%) y un hidrogel (H) sobre el rendimiento y calidad del cultivo del olivo cultivar &#8216;Manzanilla de Sevilla&#8217; en la región semidesértica de Caborca, Sonora, durante el ciclo 2016 a 2017. Los tratamientos evaluados fueron: DR50%, DR50%+H, R100% (testigo) y R100%+H. Los resultados obtenidos indican diferencias estadísticas en el contenido de humedad del suelo entre el DR50% y el testigo, con una reducción de 22.7% (2 880 m3 h-1) en el volumen de agua aplicada con el DR50% en relación al testigo, sin afectar el rendimiento y calidad del fruto. La adición de hidrogel no presentó respuesta en ninguno de los parámetros evaluados. El rendimiento y calidad del fruto fue estadísticamente igual para todos los tratamientos evaluados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The over exploitation of the water table and the lack of water in the semi-desert region of northern Sonora represents a serious problem. For this reason, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of a 50% irrigation deficit (DR50%) and a hydrogel (H) on the yield and quality of the olive cultivation &#8216;Manzanilla de Sevilla&#8217; in the semi-desert region of Caborca, Sonora, during the 2016 to 2017 cycle. The treatments evaluated were: DR50%, DR50%+H, R100% (control) and R100%+H. The results obtained indicate statistical differences in the moisture content of the soil between the DR50% and the control, with a reduction of 22.7% (2 880 m3 h-1) in the volume of water applied with the DR50% in relation to the control, without affecting the yield and quality of the fruit. The hydrogel addition showed no response in any of the parameters evaluated. The yield and quality of the fruit was statistically the same for all the treatments evaluated.]]></p></abstract>
