Sin embargo, hoy en día la producción no lo es todo en el rubro comercial; no basta solo con producir en grandes cantidades y en espacios más pequeños; el mercado actual está pidiendo productos de calidad. Por lo que el objetivo del presente trabajo de investigación fue estudiar el efecto de la variedad, el portainjerto y la época de cosecha en la calidad e índices de madurez en pimiento morrón.  Método: El presente estudio se llevó a cabo en el ciclo de producción 2012, desarrollado bajo un sistema de malla sombra, ubicada en Delicias, Chihuahua, México. El diseño experimental usado fue en bloques completos al azar con tres factores estudiados: variedades (Fascinato de frutos rojos y Janette de frutos amarillos), portainjerto (con portainjerto Terrano y sin portainjerto) y tiempo de cosecha (11 de julio, 8 de agosto, 20 de agosto y 4 de septiembre). Las variables evaluadas fueron: índices de madurez y parámetros de calidad en pimiento morrón.  Resultados: Se encontraron diferencias significativas en los parámetros de calidad e índices de madurez entre las variedades evaluadas, así mismo, el efecto del portainjerto Terrano en la calidad del fruto de las variedades Fascinato y Janette incrementó el tamaño de fruto (diámetro, longitud y peso); mientras que, en variables como firmeza, sólidos solubles totales, color (L, C, °h) y acidez titulable (% de ácido málico) el portainjerto causó un decremento. Por otra parte, la época de cosecha para las variedades estudiadas fue estrechamente relacionada con el grado de madurez del fruto.  Conclusión:  El factor variedad influyó en los parámetros: diámetro, longitud, peso del fruto, firmeza, sólidos solubles totales, color y acidez; mientras que el factor portainjerto sólo afectó la firmeza del fruto. Por otra parte, el factor época de cosecha tuvo influencia en la longitud y peso del fruto, firmeza, sólidos solubles totales, color y acidez titulable. Finalmente, la interacción de los tres factores estudiados solamente fue significativa en el color del fruto.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction:  The use of rootstocks for the production of vegetables is a technique that has been increasing in recent years, generating resistance to pathogens and increasing production in crops. However, today production is not everything in the commercial field, it is not enough to only produce in large quantities and in smaller spaces. The current market is asking for quality products. Therefore, the objective of this research was to study the effect of variety, rootstock and harvest time on the quality and maturity indexes of red pepper.  Method:  The present study was carried out in the 2012 production cycle, developed under a shade mesh system, located in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. The experimental design used was in randomized complete blocks with three factors studied: varieties (Fascinate of red fruits and Janette of yellow fruits), rootstock (with rootstock Terrano and without rootstock) and time of harvest (11 of July, 8 of August, 20 August and 4 September). The evaluated variables were: maturity indices and quality parameters in red pepper.  Results:  There were significant differences in the quality parameters and maturity index among the evaluated varieties, and the effect of the Terrano rootstock on fruit quality of the Fascinato and Janette varieties increased fruit size (diameter, length and weight); While in variables such as firmness, total soluble solids, color (L, C, ° h) and titratable acidity (% of malic acid) the rootstock caused a decrease. On the other hand, the harvest time for the varieties studied was closely related to the degree of maturity of the fruit.  Conclusion:  The variety factor influenced the parameters: diameter, length, fruit weight, firmness, total soluble solids, color and acidity; while the rootstock factor only affected the firmness of the fruit. On the other hand, the factor of harvest time had influence in the length and weight of the fruit, firmness, total soluble solids, color and titratable acidity. Finally, the interaction of the three factors studied was only significant in the color of the fruit.]]></p></abstract>
