Con el fin de amortiguar las oscilaciones electromecánicas del sistema, la sintonización de parámetros de los PSSs involucrados se efectúa de manera coordinada mediante la alternativa de optimización propuesta y la minimización de una función objetivo calculada directamente de simulaciones en el dominio del tiempo. La efectividad y robustez de los PSSs propuestos (BOAPSSs) es investigada a través de la simulación del sistema de estudio bajo diferentes condiciones de operación y perturbaciones. El desempeño de los BOAPSSs es comparado tanto con la respuesta de PSSs diseñados convencionalmente como con el comportamiento proporcionado por PSSs basados en algoritmos genéticos y en optimización de enjambres de partículas. Los resultados obtenidos de este estudio muestran un desempeño notablemente superior de los PSSs propuestos con respecto a los PSSs diseñados convencionalmente. Así mismo y en comparación con PSSs basados tanto en algoritmos genéticos como en inteligencia de enjambres, se verifica la mejora en el comportamiento dinámico del sistema al utilizar los PSSs diseñados con la metodología propuesta.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract A Bat Optimization Algorithm (BOA) based tuning approach for the robust design of power system stabilizers (PSSs) in multimachine systems is presented in this paper. In order to successfully damp overall power system electromechanical oscillations, an optimal and coordinated set of PSS parameters is determined with the proposed alternative by minimizing a cost function directly computed from nonlinear time domain simulations. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed PSSs (BOAPSSs) are proved through the simulation of a multimachine power system under different operating conditions and disturbances. Performance of BOAPSSs is compared with conventionally designed PSSs (CPSSs), Genetic Algorithm based PSSs (GAPSSs) and Particle Swarm Optimization based PSSs (PSOPSSs). Obtained results show the superior performance of the proposed BOAPSSs over CPSSs. As compared to the GAPSSs and PSOPSSs in the study, the improved system dynamic behavior with BOAPSS is also verified.]]></p></abstract>
