<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-07052016000100017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-07052016000100017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-07052016000100017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción:  Este artículo presenta una propuesta de mejora en el tiempo de atención al paciente mediante el uso de la metodología de Lean Manufacturing en una unidad de urgencias en una clínica en Bogotá, la cual incumple o excede los estándares de tiempo para atención al paciente establecidos por la Secretaría Distrital de Salud.  Método:  Este trabajo de investigación se realizó en una Institución Prestadora de Servicios de Salud (IPS), universitaria, privada, sin ánimo de lucro, ubicada en Bogotá- Colombia. El diseño de investigación es de tipo no experimental, transversal y descriptiva, mediante un trabajo en campo de 6 meses con el fin de establecer las áreas y/o procesos que no agregan valor al paciente, mediante el uso de herramientas propias del Lean Manufacturing tales como el value stream mapping y el diagrama de spaghetti, generando planes de acción que contribuyeran a la mejora en los tiempos de atención al paciente.  Resultados:  Las actividades o mudas que no generan valor al cliente y que requieren ser mejoradas o eliminadas, en la unidad de urgencias estudiada, hacen alusión a: [1] Registros en admisiones, [2] esperas en el ingreso para valoración a triage, ortopedia, consulta y tratamiento médico y [3] la entrega de la orden de salida.La aplicabilidad de la propuesta se evaluó a través de simulaciones basadas en el Software Arena, obteniendo mejoras en los tiempos de espera del paciente de hasta un 67%.  Discusión o Conclusión:  Este proyecto evidencia mejoras en los tiempos de espera para la atención al paciente en la Unidad de Urgencia estudiada, lo cual podría incentivar el uso del Lean en otras unidades o IPS a nivel Colombia o América Latina, ya que se establece que esta área de investigación aún es incipiente en dichas regiones.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction:  An improvement proposal is presented for reducing the service time for patients using the methodology of Lean Manufacturing in an emergency department at a clinic in Bogotá, which fails or exceeds the standard time established by the District Department of Health.  Method:  This research was carried out on an Emergency Unit, located in Bogotá - Colombia. Fieldwork was conducted during a six month period in order to establish the areas and / or processes that don´t add value to the patient, using specific tools of Lean manufacturing such as value stream mapping and The spaghetti diagram, generating action plans to contribute to its improvement.  Results:  The activities that do not generate customer value and need to be improved or eliminated in the emergency department study, Alluding to: [1] Registering for admission, [2] waiting times at the admission for assesment in triage, consultation and medical treatment and [3] order delivery. The applicability of the proposal is assessed using simulations based on Software Arena, showing improvements in patient waiting times of up to 67%.  Discussion or Conclusion:  This project demonstrates improvements in waiting times for patients in the Emergency Unit studied, which could encourage other units for using Lean in Colombia or Latin America, as it states that this research area is still emerging in these regions.]]></p></abstract>
