Es una patología que debe ser tratada por un equipo multidisciplinario de especialidades médicas y quirúrgicas para el mejor pronóstico del paciente. Como personal quirúrgico tenemos un importante rol en el manejo de esta enfermedad, por lo que resulta de importancia la creación de un trabajo que aporte información unificada y recomendaciones sobre la técnica quirúrgica de colocación de catéter Tenckhoff con abordaje abierto, que ha demostrado ser eficaz y segura para los pacientes y que es una práctica común en nuestro medio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Chronic kidney disease is currently a pathology of international importance due to the high medical costs it represents for the medical healthcare system in every country and the high number of related complications. It´s a pathology that must be treated by a multidisciplinary medical and surgical team for the best prognosis of the patient. As surgical professionals, we have an essential role in the management of this disease; that is why it is crucial creating a review with unified information and recommendations regarding the open surgical technique for Tenckhoff catheter placement that has shown to be efficient and safe for patients and that is a standard surgical procedure in our environment.]]></p></abstract>
