Material y métodos:  Se estudiaron 15 pacientes en el Curso de Artroscopia y Reconstrucción Articular en el Hospital Ángeles Pedregal, de enero 2014 a diciembre de 2017 con seguimiento promedio un año.  Resultados:  La indicación médica para la artroplastia reversa de hombro fue la artropatía del manguito rotador con 86.7% (n = 13), seguida de la cirugía de revisión con 13.3% (n = 2). Los resultados funcionales se establecieron mediante la escala de Constant-Murley, obteniendo en los pacientes un promedio de 25.7 puntos, previo a la cirugía y 60.3 puntos, posterior al procedimiento quirúrgico.  Discusión:  Existen tres indicaciones en las que se ha demostrado la utilidad de la artroplastia reversa de hombro, la primera es la osteoartritis del hombro con ruptura masiva e irreparable del manguito rotador, la segunda son las secuelas severas de fracturas de húmero proximal y la tercera es la cirugía de revisión de una artroplastia de hombro previa fallida.  Conclusión:  Los resultados son similares a los encontrados en la literatura revisada, la principal indicación de la cirugía es la artropatía de manguito rotador y hay franca mejoría en los resultados funcionales y alivio de dolor postquirúrgicos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  The indication for shoulder replacement has changed in the last years, the reverse total shoulder replacement has overcome the anatomic shoulder replacement.  Material and methods:  15 patients were studied. In the Arthroscopy and Articular Reconstruction Course in the Hospital Ángeles Pedregal, from January 2014 to December 2017, with average of follow up one year.  Results:  The indication for reverse shoulder arthroplasty was the rotator cuff arthropathy with 86.7 % (n = 13), followed by revision surgery with 13.3% (n = 2). The functional results were stablished by the Constant-Murley score, we got in our patients an average of 25.7 points before the surgery and 60.3 points after the surgical procedure.  Discussion:  There are three indications where have been showed the utility of reverse shoulder arthroplasty, the first one is the osteoarthritis of the shoulder with massive rupture of rotator cuff, the second one are the severe sequelae of proximal humeral fractures, and the third one is the revision surgery of previous failed shoulder arthroplasty.  Conclusion:  Our results in the present study are similar to the literature results reviewed, the main indication for surgery is the rotator cuff arthropathy, and there are clear improvement in the functional results after surgery.]]></p></abstract>
