La industria automotriz mundial (IA) atraviesa una profunda transformación debido a la transición hacia los vehículos eléctricos y autónomos. Bajo su anterior base tecnológico-productiva, formaba parte del complejo automotriz-metal-mecánico-petroquímico que constituyó el núcleo dinámico de la fase fordista-keynesiana. En esa transición subyace un proceso de revolucionamiento de la industria por parte del sector electrónico-informático y de telecomunicaciones, que constituye el núcleo dinámico del ciclo industrial de la actual fase de desarrollo. Esto implica una reconfiguración jerárquico-espacial de la IA y el despliegue de nuevas RPG entre los núcleos dinámicos de países-nodos globales que involucra a la macrorregión norteamericana. Desde la perspectiva teórica esbozada se estudia el revolucionamiento tecnológico-productivo de la IA, su reconfiguración jerárquico-espacial y la ubicación de la macrorregión norteamericana en el proceso, analizando las RPG que se despliegan en torno a sus países-nodos entre los núcleos dinámicos, bajo la argumentación de que ello posibilita el abordaje integral del fenómeno en toda su dimensión.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The contribution of the Global Production Networks (GPNS) perspective to understanding the new global space fully comes into its own through a theoretical-methodological approach to capitalism in terms of historical-spatial phases of development, with industrial cycles differentiated by their dynamic core. The global automotive industry (GAI) is undergoing a profound transformation due to the transition towards electric and autonomous vehicles. Under its previous technological-productive base, it was part of the automotive-metal-mechanical-petrochemical complex that constituted the dynamic core of the Fordist-Keynesian phase. This transition entails a revolutionary process in the industry driven by the electronics-computing and telecommunications sector, which constitutes the dynamic core of the industrial cycle of the current phase of development. This implies a hierarchical-spatial reconfiguration of the GAI and the deployment of new GPNS among the dynamic cores of global node-countries involving the North American macro-region. From the theoretical perspective outlined, the technological-productive revolution of the GAI is studied, along with its hierarchical-spatial reconfiguration and the positioning of the North American macro-region in the process, analyzing the GPNS that are deployed around its node-countries among the dynamic cores, under the argument that this enables a comprehensive approach to the phenomenon in its entirety.]]></p></abstract>
