El trabajo incluye microfotografías de algunos rasgos diagnósticos del parásito. Su identificación se basó en la presencia de una placa cefálica cuadrangular, que diferencia esta especie de las otras 7 del subgénero Trypanoxyuris. En los huevos de T. (T.) minutus se observaron 3 crestas longitudinales equidistantes, que en vista apical forman un contorno triangular con las esquinas redondeadas.]]></p></abstract>

We noticed that there were 3 equidistant longitudinal ridges on the eggs surface which form, in apical view, a triangular contour with rounded corners.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2"><b>Key words:</b> helminths, <i>Alouatta palliata mexicana</i>, <i>Alouatta pigra</i>, Mexico.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">&nbsp;</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2"><i>Trypanoxyuris</i> es 1 de los 3 g&eacute;neros de Enterobiinae que parasitan primates (Hugot et al., 1996), cada uno de los cuales est&aacute; asociado a un suborden de este grupo de hospederos: <i>Enterobius</i> a Catarrhini, <i>Lemuricola</i> a Strepsirhini y <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> a Platyrrhini (Hugot, 1999). Las 16 especies de <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> se distribuyen en la regi&oacute;n neotropical; 8 de ellas, pertenecen al subg&eacute;nero <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> (<i>Trypanoxyuris</i>) (Hugot, 1985; Hugot y Vaucher, 1985; Hugot et al., 1994, 1996). Particularmente, <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> (<i>Trypanoxyuris</i>) <i>minutus</i> Schneider, 1866 se ha registrado como par&aacute;sita de varias especies de primates en Argentina (Pope, 1966; Coppo et al., 1979), Brasil (Schneider 1866; Travassos, 1925; Stiles et al., 1929; Inglis y D&iacute;az&#150;Ungr&iacute;a, 1959; Vicente et al., 1992, 1997; Amato et al., 2002; Noronha et al., 2004; Godoy et al., 2004; Martins et al., 2008), Guyana Francesa (Hugot, 1985), Surinam (van Thiel, 1925), Venezuela (Inglis y D&iacute;az&#150;Ungr&iacute;a, 1959; D&iacute;az&#150;Ungr&iacute;a, 1965), Colombia (Hugghins, 1969), Panam&aacute; (Thatcher y Porter, 1968), Costa Rica (Stuart et al., 1990, 1998), Belice y M&eacute;xico (Rico&#150;Hern&aacute;ndez, 2005; Vitazkova y Wade 2006, 2007; Valdespino et al., 2010).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">En M&eacute;xico no ha sido estudiada la morfolog&iacute;a del par&aacute;sito; por esta raz&oacute;n, este trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar la primera caracterizaci&oacute;n morfom&eacute;trica de <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> realizada con material mexicano, incluyendo microfotograf&iacute;as electr&oacute;nicas de barrido de algunas estructuras de la especie que no han sido estudiadas previamente con esta t&eacute;cnica.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">Durante marzo&#150;mayo de 2009 se revisaron las heces de 113 monos aulladores de manto (<i>Alouatta palliata mexicana</i> Merriam, 1902) de Los Tuxtlas, Veracruz (95&deg;00'O, 18&deg;25'N) y 85 heces de monos aulladores negros (<i>Alouatta pigra</i> Lawrence, 1933) de Palenque, Chiapas (17&deg;30'05"N; 92&deg;04'42"O). Los nem&aacute;todos encontrados se lavaron con suero fisiol&oacute;gico y se fijaron con alcohol et&iacute;lico caliente al 70%. Posteriormente se almacenaron en viales con alcohol et&iacute;lico fr&iacute;o a la misma concentraci&oacute;n. Para su estudio morfom&eacute;trico, el material se aclar&oacute; con lactofenol de Amann durante 24 horas (Lamothe&#150;Argumedo, 1997) y se midi&oacute; con un ocular milim&eacute;trico adaptado a un microscopio fot&oacute;nico. La longitud total de los nem&aacute;todos no incluye el tama&ntilde;o de la cola en las hembras, ni la del ap&eacute;ndice caudal en los machos. Para el estudio del material con microscop&iacute;a electr&oacute;nica de barrido (MEB) se sigui&oacute; la t&eacute;cnica utilizada por Bertoni&#150;Ruiz et al. (2005). La prevalencia de la infecci&oacute;n en ambos hospederos fue calculada de acuerdo con Bush et al. (1997). Algunos ejemplares de referencia fueron depositados en la Colecci&oacute;n Nacional de Helmintos (CNHE) del Instituto de Biolog&iacute;a, Universidad Nacional Aut&oacute;noma de M&eacute;xico, M&eacute;xico D.F., con el n&uacute;mero de cat&aacute;logo CNHE (6939).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">El material recolectado en las heces de <i>A. palliata mexicana</i> y <i>A. pigra</i> fue identificado como <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> &#91;= <i>Oxyuris minuta</i> Schneider, 1866 (Schneider, 1866), = <i>Enterobius minutus</i> Schneider, 1866 (Travassos, 1925; van Thiel, 1925; Cameron, 1929; Solomon, 1933; Sandosham, 1950; Skrjabin et al., 1951), = <i>Syphacia bonnei</i> van Thiel, 1925 (van Thiel, 1925)&#93; (<a href="/img/revistas/rmbiodiv/v82n1/a27f1.jpg" target="_blank">Figs. 1</a> y <a href="/img/revistas/rmbiodiv/v82n1/a27f2.jpg" target="_blank">2</a>). Sus caracter&iacute;sticas morfom&eacute;tricas m&aacute;s sobresalientes se muestran en el <a href="/img/revistas/rmbiodiv/v82n1/a27c1.jpg" target="_blank">Cuadro 1</a>. Hembras y machos presentan una placa cef&aacute;lica cuadrangular y labios pedunculados; el labio dorsal es bilobulado en ambos sexos y el ventral izquierdo exclusivamente en las hembras. Las alas laterales de los machos son simples y en las hembras tienen doble cresta.</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">La prevalencia del par&aacute;sito en <i>A. palliata mexicana </i>fue mayor que la registrada en A. pigra (45% y 17%, respectivamente).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2"><i>Trypanoxuris (T.) minutus</i> fue descrita como par&aacute;sito del ciego intestinal de <i>Ateles paniscus</i> Linneo, 1758 en Brasil (Schneider, 1866), siendo &eacute;ste el &uacute;nico registro de la especie en un g&eacute;nero de primates distinto de <i>Allouata</i>, ya que a la fecha se le ha registrado infectando a <i>Allouata caraya</i> Humboldt, 1812 (Travassos, 1925; Pope, 1966; Coppo et al., 1979; Godoy et al., 2004), <i>A. guariba</i> Humboldt, 1812 (Vicente et al., 1992, 1997; Amato et al., 2002; Noronha et al., 2004), <i>A. belzebu</i>l Linnaeus, 1766 (Vicente et al., 1992, 1997; Martins et al., 2008), A. fusca Geoffroy 1812 (D&iacute;az&#150;Ungr&iacute;a, 1965), <i>A. seniculus</i> Linnaeus, 1766 (van Thiel, 1925; Stiles et al., 1929; Hugghins, 1963; Inglis y D&iacute;az&#150;Ungr&iacute;a, 1959; Hugot, 1985), <i>A. palliata</i> (Thatcher y Porter, 1968; Stuart el al., 1990, 1998; Rico&#150;Hern&aacute;ndez, 2005; Valdespino et al., 2010) y <i>A. pigra</i> (Vitazkova y Wade 2006, 2007).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">Los rasgos observados en el material descrito previamente permiten asignarlo al g&eacute;nero <i>Trpanoxyuris</i>, el cual se caracteriza porque las papilas ad&#150;cloacales est&aacute;n siempre distantes entre s&iacute; y las posteriores son m&aacute;s laterales que las anteriores, presentando el anillo cuticular limitado al primer par de papilas (Hugot y Baylac, 2006). De la misma forma, se incorporaron al subg&eacute;nero <i>Trypanoxyuris</i>, porque exhiben una proporci&oacute;n longitud del es&oacute;fago/longitud del bulbo mayor a 4.3 en los machos y a 4 en las hembras, as&iacute; como dimorfismo sexual en la estructura bucal y en las alas laterales (Hugot et al. 1996).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">De las 8 especies incluidas en el subg&eacute;nero <i>Trypanoxyuris</i>, la &uacute;nica que posee una placa cef&aacute;lica cuadrangular igual a la observada en el material aqu&iacute; estudiado es <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> (Hugot, 1985), por lo que lo incorporamos a dicha especie. Asimismo, se identific&oacute; como <i>T. (T.) minutus</i>, porque presenta un es&oacute;fago relativamente largo en ambos sexos, particularmente en las hembras, en las que la proporci&oacute;n: largo del cuerpo/largo del es&oacute;fago fue 3.86. En las hembras de las otras 7 especies incluidas en <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> (<i>Trypanoxyuris</i>), esta proporci&oacute;n var&iacute;a de 4.6 en <i>T. (T.) croizati</i> Hugot, Morand y Guerrero, 1994 (Hugot et al., 1994) hasta 10.1 en <i>T. (T.) clementinae</i> Hugot, 1985 (Hugot, 1985; Hugot y Vaucher, 1985), mientras que en los machos la diferencia no es tan marcada, siendo esta proporci&oacute;n similar en <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> y <i>T. (T.) croizati</i> (Hugot, 1985; Hugot y Vaucher, 1985; Hugot et al., 1994). No obstante, <i>T. (T.) croizati</i> difiere de <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> por la forma de la placa cef&aacute;lica, que es hexagonal en la primera especie (Hugot et al., 1994) y cuadrangular en la segunda (Hugot, 1985).</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">En este estudio se describe por primera vez para los huevos de <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> la presencia de 3 engrosamientos longitudinales, equidistantes, que en vista apical forman un contorno triangular con las esquinas redondeadas (<a href="/img/revistas/rmbiodiv/v82n1/a27f2.jpg" target="_blank">Fig. 2</a>). Previamente se ha hecho referencia de estas estructuras en 2 especies incluidas en 2 subg&eacute;neros de <i>Trypanoxyuris</i>: T. (<i>Trypanoxyuris</i>) satanas Hugot, 1985 y T. (Paraoxyuronema) atelis Cameron, 1929, por lo que su hallazgo en <i>T. (T.) minutus</i> refuerza la idea de Hasegawa et al. (2004) de que presumiblemente todas las especies del g&eacute;nero <i>Trypanoxyuris</i> poseen esta caracter&iacute;stica.</font></p>     <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">Este estudio forma parte del proyecto de tesis de maestr&iacute;a de la primera autora, becaria del CONACyT a trav&eacute;s del Posgrado en Ciencias Biol&oacute;gicas (Biolog&iacute;a Ambiental) de la UNAM.
