In stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE), a coating is typically used to isolate and preconcentrate organic compounds in aqueous samples. Here, a translucent coating based on polydimethylsiloxane and phenyltriethoxysilane was prepared by a sol-gel method. Characterization tests showed that the coating was homogeneous, relatively polar, and both thermally (&lt; 400 °C) and chemically stable. Coated stir bars were evaluated in the SBSE experiments. Benzene derivatives were successfully extracted/preconcentrated from aqueous solutions and environmental waters. Furanic derivatives and antibiotics were moderately extracted from water, but they were extracted from isooctane.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: La ciencia materiales ha contribuido a que la etapa del pretratamiento analítico sea amigable al medio ambiente. En la extracción por sorción en barras de agitación (SBSE) se utiliza un recubrimiento para aislar y preconcentrar compuestos orgánicos de muestras acuosas. En este trabajo se preparó por sol-gel un recubrimiento translúcido basado en polidimetilsiloxano y feniltrietoxisilano. Las pruebas de caracterización mostraron que el recubrimiento fue homogéneo, relativamente polar, térmica (&lt; 400 °C) y químicamente estable. Se realizaron experimentos de extracción por SBSE para evaluar el recubrimiento. Los derivados del benceno se extrajeron y preconcentraron exitosamente de las soluciones acuosas y de muestras de agua. Los derivados furánicos y los antibióticos se extrajeron moderadamente del agua y del isooctano.]]></p></abstract>
