Este estudio analiza la percepción de estudiantes de sexto de secundaria en un distrito del norte de la República Dominicana sobre las letras de este género musical. A partir de un enfoque cuantitativo, se encuestaron 1,088 estudiantes, y se exploró su afinidad, valoración del contenido lírico y percepciones sobre su impacto. Los resultados revelan una preferencia generalizada por el reguetón y el dembow, así como percepciones diferenciadas según edad y sexo. Las mujeres adoptan posturas más críticas frente a contenidos como violencia y sexualización, mientras que los estudiantes mayores reportan mayor identificación emocional con las letras. También se identificaron trayectorias diferenciadas según variables sociodemográficas. El estudio subraya la diversidad de interpretaciones juveniles y la necesidad de alfabetización mediática con enfoque inter seccional. Se proponen líneas futuras sobre cultura digital, subjetividad juvenil y educación crítica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Urban music plays a central role in the socialization and identity construction of young people. This study analyzes the perceptions of twelfth-grade students in a district in northern Dominican Republic regarding the lyrics of this musical genre. Using a quantitative approach, a survey was conducted with 1,088 students, exploring their affinity, evaluation of lyrical content, and perceived impact. The results reveal a widespread preference for reggaetón and dembow, along with differentiated perceptions based on age and gender. Female students tend to express more critical views toward content involving violence and sexualization, while older students report stronger emotional identification with the lyrics. Differentiated trajectories were also identified according to sociodemographic variables. The study highlights the diversity of youth interpretations and the need for media literacy strategies with an intersectional approach. Future research is proposed on digital culture, youth subjectivity, and critical education.]]></p></abstract>
