<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1665-26732023000200112&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1665-26732023000200112&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1665-26732023000200112&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[ Resumen Situaciones emergentes como la originada por la pandemia por COVID-19 han planteado desafíos a la educación en todos los niveles educativos, los cuales requieren de nuevos enfoques creativos e innovadores que potencialicen el uso de las tecnológicas disponibles en pro de mejorar las condiciones de aprendizaje de los estudiantes en circunstancias extraordinarias. Bajo este contexto, en este artículo se valora el aprendizaje que genera una instrucción de las leyes de Newton que es apoyada de simulaciones PhET, en un curso universitario en línea durante el confinamiento por COVID-19. Se evaluó la efectividad de la instrucción a través de la aplicación de un Cuestionario Sobre el Concepto de Fuerza (FCI por sus siglas en inglés), previo y posterior a la intervención, se exploró la percepción de los estudiantes sobre su conocimiento tras la instrucción y el tipo de representaciones externas que manifestaron. El estudio reveló un incremento del 7.2 % en el porcentaje de respuestas correctas en la prueba FCI mientras que el 68 % (13/19) de los ítems presentaron un menor índice de dificultad. Por su parte, el 82 % de los estudiantes que consideraron saber &#8220;nada&#8221; antes de la instrucción percibieron algún tipo de mejora, señalando saber &#8220;poco&#8221; o &#8220;algo&#8221; después de la instrucción. En su conjunto, estas observaciones otorgan una valoración positiva del uso de simulaciones PhET como apoyo para la enseñanza de las leyes de Newton en un curso en línea, abriendo la posibilidad al diseño y desarrollo de nuevas simulaciones que potencialicen los resultados obtenidos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ Abstract Emerging situations such as caused by COVID-19 pandemic, have presented challenges to education at all levels, which require new creative and innovative approaches that enhance the use of available technologies, in order to improve the learning conditions of student in extraordinary circumstances. In this context, this paper assesses the learning that generates an instruction of Newton&#8217;s laws that is supported by PhET simulations, in an online university course during confinement by COVID-19. Instruction efficiency was evaluated through employing of Force Concept Inventory (FCI) before and after of the intervention, the students&#8217; perception of their knowledge after the instruction was explored, as well as the type of external representations they manifested. The study revealed a 7.2 % increase in the percentage of correct answers in the FCI test, while 68 % (13/19) of the items presented a lower difficulty index. For their part, 82 % of the students who considered knowing &#8220;nothing&#8221; before the instruction perceived some kind of improvement, indicating that they knew &#8220;little&#8221; or &#8220;some&#8221; after the instruction. Taken together, these observations give a positive assessment of using PhET simulations to support Newton&#8217;s laws teaching in an online course, opening the possibility to the design and develop new simulations that enhance the results obtained.]]></p></abstract>
