VAL-B1 y EMA-T5 son cepas del mismo género y aprovechan fuentes puras de carbono y residual para producir ácidos grasos poliinsaturados. Se utilizó glicerol puro (GP) y crudo (GC) para comparar la producción de biomasa, el rendimiento y producción de omega 3 y 6, utilizando 3 concentraciones diferentes de sustrato. Empleando 100 mL de cultivo a 25°C y 180 rpm, se observó un crecimiento de las cepas por 7 días, posteriormente se centrifugaron y cuantifico la biomasa por cromatografía gaseosa, el perfil de ácidos grasos. Los resultados muestran que EMA-T5 genera mayor cantidad de biomasa al 5to día usando 20 g/L de GC con 6,984 ± 0,66 g/L. Respecto al rendimiento y producción de omega 3 y 6, VAL-B1 obtuvo los mejores resultados con 91,80 ± 8,78 mg/g y 1167,71 ± 70,88 mg/L, siendo el omega 3 más abundante, en especial DHA con 52,72 ± 4,94 % de ácidos grasos totales (AGT). Se concluye, que EMA-T5 genera mayor producción de biomasa usando GC y VAL-B1 presenta los mejores resultados de rendimiento y producción de omega empleando GP, lo cual indica que ambas cepas, aprovechan de buena forma tanto la fuente pura como cruda del glicerol.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Thraustochytrids are characterized by producing omega 3 and 6 type microbial oils. VAL-B1 and EMA-T5 are strains of the same genus that take advantage of pure sources of carbon and residual to produce polyunsaturated fatty acids. Pure (GP) and crude (GC) glycerol were used to compare biomass production and omega 3 and 6 yield and production, using three different substrate concentrations. Using 100 mL of culture at 25 ° C and 180 rpm, the strains were grown for 7 days, then the biomass was centrifuged, and the fatty acid profile quantified by gas chromatography. The results show that EMA-T5 generates a greater amount of biomass at day 5 using 20 g/L of GC with 6.984 ± 0.66 g/L. Regarding the yield and production of omega 3 and 6, VAL-B1 produced the best results with 91.80 ± 8.78 mg/g and 1167.71 ± 70.88 mg/L, being omega 3 the most abundant, especially DHA which presented the highest abundance with 52.72 ± 4.94 % total fatty acids (TFA). It is concluded that EMA-T5 generates higher biomass production using GC and VAL-B1, presents the best performance and omega production results using GP, which indicates that both strains make good use of both the pure and raw sources of glycerol.]]></p></abstract>
