Es un estudio cuantitativo, transversal y descriptivo que empleó el instrumento School and Family Partnerships: Questionnaires for Parents in Elementary and Middle Grades, de Epstein y Clark. La muestra estuvo formada por 707 padres y madres de familia de 18 escuelas secundarias públicas y privadas de Mérida, Yucatán. Los resultados señalan que la actividad de involucramiento que más realizan los padres y las madres de familia es hacer que el entorno familiar sea positivo y fomente el éxito escolar. Los alumnos cuyos padres y madres participan como voluntarios en la escuela en las actividades a las que se les invita son los que reportan mejor rendimiento académico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This research analyzes the types of parental involvement with their children´s secondary school and the relationship between the type of parental involvement and the academic performance of their children. It is a quantitative, transversal and descriptive study. The instrument used was the Epstein and Clark instrument &#8220;School and Family Partnerships: Questionnaires for Parents in Elementary and Middle Grades&#8221;. The sample was 707 parents of 18 different public and private secondary schools in Merida, Yucatan. The results indicate that the activity of involvement that most parents perform is making a positive home environment and encouraging school success. Students&#8217;, whose parents got involved with the school as volunteers when invited, were those with better academic performance.]]></p></abstract>
