Se utilizó como fuente de datos el dispositivo de evaluación &#8220;Aprender&#8221; aplicado en 2019 al alumnado del último año de secundaria en Argentina. Tras estimar modelos de regresión logísticos, los resultados muestran que a menor nivel socioeconómico del hogar del estudiante: mayor es la probabilidad de que elija realizar estudios terciarios en lugar de universitarios; decida combinar estudio y trabajo; trabaje únicamente, o no esté decidido. Además, las probabilidades de tener expectativas de estudios universitarios resultaron más altas para las mujeres, los no repitentes, aquellos que asisten a escuelas privadas, los que tienen padres con mayor nivel educativo y los que tienen mejor desempeño académico. Los resultados obtenidos son relevantes para el diseño de políticas que busquen disminuir la desigualdad social en el acceso a la universidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper examines the factors that shape high school students&#8217; expectations of pursuing university studies. The data source used was the &#8220;Aprender&#8221; assessment administered in 2019 to students in the last year of high school in Argentina. Based on the estimation of logistic regression models, the results show that the lower the socioeconomic status of students&#8217; households, the more likely they are to opt to pursue an associate degree rather than attend university, to combine study and work, to only work, or to be undecided. In addition, expectations of university study were more likely among women, non-retained students, those who attend private schools, those with more highly educated parents, and those with better academic performance. These findings are relevant for designing policies to reduce social inequality in university access.]]></p></abstract>
