<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1607-050X2017000100020&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1607-050X2017000100020&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1607-050X2017000100020&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: El son jarocho, género musical originario de Veracruz, México, durante el siglo XX se ha considerado uno de los componentes originales de la herencia cultural mexicana. a mediados de siglo, el género se alejó de sus formas históricas para favorecer un formato más comercial. el Movimiento Jaranero -llamado así por el uso central de la jarana, una pequeña guitarra de origen barroco- intentó recuperar las bases de la tradición frente a la lógica estilizada con fines comerciales, en práctica desde la década de 1940, para reivindicar las raíces no europeas de esta música &#8220;blanqueada&#8221;. en los últimos 20 años han surgido proyectos de colaboración entre las nuevas generaciones de músicos jarochos y el movimiento chicano en Estados Unidos. el encuentro con las raíces africanas del género constituye un proceso de circulación cultural y de resignificación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Son Jarocho, a musical genre from Veracruz, Mexico, has been nationally regarded during the 20th century as one of the original components of the Mexican cultural heritage. the recent popularizers of Son Jarocho have drifted away from the historic styles in favor of new forms that may be more commercial. the Jaranero Movement -named so after the central use of the jarana, a small guitar of Spanish origin-, attempted to recover the tradition of Son Jarocho musical style, since it has been exploited for commercial goals since the 1940s. it also tries to recover the roots of the genre, &#8220;whitened&#8221; or lost to European influences. in the last 20 years the new generation of Veracruz musicians and the Chicano movement in the United States have multiplied their collaborative efforts to recover an authentic version of Son Jarocho. in this process, the encounter with the African roots have been occurring in a new way.]]></p></abstract>
