Parto del concepto de &#8220;postmemoria,&#8221; con relación a la historia familiar de la esclavitud sufrida por los abuelos de la artista, como base para interpretar su deseo de crear consciencia sobre la doble opresión experimentada por las mujeres de raza negra, tanto en el pasado como en la actualidad. Mientras trabajaba en el contexto artístico del Taller de Gráfica Popular, Catlett introdujo en el México de mediados del siglo XX el tema de la interseccionalidad de género y raza de forma explícita y contundente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In this paper I study the graphic series entitled Negro Woman (1946) by the American-Mexican artist Elizabeth Catlett. I rely on the concept of &#8220;postmemory&#8221; in relation to the slavery suffered by the artistas grandparents, as the base to interpret her desire to create consciousness on the double oppression experienced by black women, both in the past and in the present moment. Working in the artistic context of the Taller de Gráfica Popular, Catlett introduced in mid-century México the intersectionality of gender and race in a very explicit and forceful way.]]></p></abstract>
