<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1405-888X2024000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1405-888X2024000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1405-888X2024000100001&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El presente trabajo se realizó en el Valle del Yaqui, Sonora, México, con la finalidad de evaluar el efecto de la contaminación agrícola en las aves del ecosistema lagunar El Tóbari, ubicado al sur del estado (27°04&#8217;40.01&#8217;&#8217;N, 110°00&#8217;06.66&#8217;&#8217;O). Este ecosistema recibe drenes agrícolas del Valle del Yaqui y es hábitat de especies de aves reproductivas de colonia, dentro de las cuales se encuentran la Espátula Rosada (Platalea ajaja), la Garcita Dedos Dorados (Egretta thula), el Garzón Gris (Ardea herodias), la Garza Rojiza (Egretta rufescens), y el Pedrete Corona Clara (Nyctanasa violacea). Para el efecto, se colectaron un total de 30 huevos de estas 5 especies, en el periodo comprendido de los años de 2010-2012. Los huevos se pesaron y se les midió la longitud, el ancho, el grosor del cascarón y se calculó el índice de tamaño y el volumen. En el contenido y en el cascarón de cada huevo, se cuantificaron 17 plaguicidas organoclorados incluyendo el DDT y sus metabolitos. Como resultado se tiene que el 4,4&#8217;-DDE se detectó en 100% de las muestras, con concentraciones que variaron entre 0.16 y 17.86 µg/g peso húmedo (mediana = 2.17 µg/g); por lo contrario &#945;-BHC, &#946;-BHC, heptacloro epóxido, 4,4&#8217;-DDD y 4,4&#8217;-DDT se presentaron con menor frecuencia y los valores máximos de 0.09 µg/g y mínimos de 0.004 µg/g peso húmedo. En el cascarón se encontraron el &#946;-BHC, heptacloro, endrín aldheído y el 4,4&#8217;-DDE, este último en el cascarón de la Garza Rojiza y del Garzón Gris con medianas de 2.54 y 1.23 µg/g, respectivamente. Un 30% del total de las muestras excedieron el límite de 4 µg/g de concentración de 4,4&#8217;-DDE, con efectos dañinos en la reproducción de especies similares, es así, que el 55% de las muestras del Garzón Gris rebasaron el límite, seguido de la Espátula Rosada (37%), la Garza Rojiza (25%) y la Garcita Dedos Dorados (12%). Esta última especie fue la única que presentó una correlación negativa entre la concentraciones de 4,4&#8217;-DDE y el grosor del cascarón.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The objective of this work was to assess the impacts of agricultural pollution on birds from El Tobari lagoon, a coastal ecosystem in the Yaqui Valley, located in south Sonora, Mexico (27°04&#8217;40.01&#8217;&#8217;N, 110°00&#8217;06.66&#8217;&#8217;O). This lagoon receives agricultural drains from the Yaqui Valley. It is the habitat of reproductive colonial bird species, including Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja), Snowy Egret (Egretta thula), Great Blue-Heron (Ardea herodias), Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens), and Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanasa violacea). For this purpose, 30 eggs of these 5 species were collected between 2010-2012. Eggs were weighed, their length, width, and thickness were measured, and their size index and volume were calculated. 17 organochlorine pesticides were quantified in each sample, including DDT and their metabolites. Results indicate that 4,4&#8217;-DDE was detected in 100% of analyzed samples; concentrations ranged from 0.16 to 17.86 µg/g wet weight (median = 2.17 µg/g); &#945;-BHC, &#946;-BHC, heptachlor epoxide, 4,4&#8217;-DDD and 4,4&#8217;-DDT were detected less frequently with maximum values of 0.09 µg/g and minimum of 0.004 µg/g wet weight, respectively. In eggshell samples, &#946;-BHC, heptachlor, endrin aldehyde, and 4,4&#8217;-DDE were detected; the last one was present in Reddish Egret and Great Blue Heron eggshells with median values of 2.54 and 1.23 µg/g, respectively. 30% of the total samples exceeded the 4 µg/g limit of 4,4&#8217;-DDE concentration, where reproductive effects were observed in similar species. Great Blue-Heron had 55% of samples above this limit, followed by Roseate Spoonbill (37%), Reddish Egret (25%) and Snowy Egret (12%).
