La investigación reúne datos de costos de producción de vivienda para probar la hipótesis de que las características de tamaño de la vivienda, altura de la edificación, trazo de vialidades y oferta de espacios públicos en estos desarrollos son el resultado de imperativos en la producción de vivienda de bajo costo. Los resultados muestran cómo estas prioridades presionan constantemente sobre las condiciones de habitabilidad, generando un espacio público y privado compacto, homogéneo y denso.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This case study of Tijuana, Mexico, explains the production rationale underlying the urban landscape made up of social housing. This research gathers speculative housing production cost data to test the hypothesis that design choices leading to home size, building height, and public space allotment in social housing developments result from low-cost housing production imperatives. Results show that production priorities consistently press on habitability, generating a private and public space that is compact, homogeneous, and dense.]]></p></abstract>
