Las arcillas fueron calcinadas con NaOH variando el tiempo y temperatura de calcinación. La composición de la mezcla de síntesis y condiciones del tratamiento hidrotérmico se mantuvieron en todas las síntesis realizadas. La arcilla fue utilizada como fuente de silicio y aluminio, ajustando la composición de la mezcla con NaOH y H2O. Los sólidos se sometieron a caracterización mediante Difracción de Rayos X (DRX), Fluorescencia de Rayos X (FRX), determinación de área específica y capacidad de adsorción de CO2 de las arcillas de partida y de las zeolitas sintetizadas. Fue posible obtener zeolita A, empleando iguales condiciones de síntesis para las tres arcillas estudiadas. El estudio de la evolución de la cristalización con el tiempo, indicó 2 h como un tiempo adecuado para obtener la zeolita. El área específica y la capacidad de adsorción de las zeolitas obtenidas a partir de las arcillas, se incrementa notablemente en comparación con las arcillas originales, sin embargo, la composición química no cambia apreciablemente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The LTA zeolite synthesis from Ecuador clays using the alkaline fusion method, and subsequent hydrothermal crystallization at 90 ° C, was carried out. The clays were calcined with NaOH, varying the time and temperature of calcination. The composition of the synthesis mixture and hydrothermal treatment conditions were maintained in all the experiences carried out. The clay was used as a source of silicon and aluminum, adjusting the composition of the mixture with NaOH and H2O. The solids were subjected to a characterization by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Fluorescence (FRX), specific area determination and CO2 adsorption capacity of the starting clays and of the synthesized zeolites. It was possible to obtain zeolite A, using the same synthesis conditions for the three clays studied. The study of the evolution of the crystallization with time, indicated 2 h as an adequate time to obtain the zeolite. The specific area and the adsorption capacity of the zeolites obtained from the clays are remarkably increased compared to the original clays, however, the chemical composition does not change appreciably.]]></p></abstract>
