Se evaluaron 40 sesiones de clase, de 20 diferentes aulas ubicadas en tres escuelas distintas de la Ciudad de México. El instrumento utilizado fue el de Evaluación de la Calidad de la Enseñanza (Instructional Quality Assessment). Los resultados muestran que este tipo de evaluaciones tienen un gran potencial para informar el diseño de acciones de mejora educativa, tanto a nivel sistémico como de un centro escolar específico. Se concluye que sí son factibles, una vez que su valor educativo compensaría los costos y limitaciones significativos, implícitos en su aplicación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This study reports on the results of research aimed at exploring the usefulness and feasibility of evaluating the teaching of mathematics in Mexican elementary schools. An evaluation was made of forty class sessions in twenty classrooms in three schools in Mexico City. The instrument used was the Instructional Quality Assessment. The results show that this type of evaluations has great potential in determining the design of actions in educational improvement, at both the systemic and specific school level. The conclusion is that they are feasible, since their educational value would compensate for the significant costs and limitations that are implicit in their use.]]></p></abstract>
