Para ello, se ha empleado un diseño metodológico de tipo cualitativo a través de grupos de discusión. Del estudio se desprende que las familias están muy implicadas en la toma de decisiones, si bien respetan las elecciones de sus hijos e hijas. La mayoría de los padres muestran una preferencia a que sus hijos e hijas realicen estudios universitarios y reflejan, además, que los adolescentes han podido sentirse influidos por su propia actividad profesional. Asimismo, casi todos verbalizan unas elevadas expectativas respecto del futuro académico de sus hijos e hijas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This paper is centered on the analysis of parents' verbalizations regarding the academic choices of their children in secondary school. The purpose is to examine the factors that influence vocational decision-making. A qualitative design based on discussion groups was used. The study reveals that families are very involved in decision-making, although they respect their children's choices. Most parents prefer that their children enroll in a university; in addition, teenagers may be influenced by their parents' professional activity. Almost all parents verbalize high expectations with regard to their children's academic future.]]></p></abstract>
