Sin embargo, poco sabemos del tamaño de la brecha entre ambos. Desde un enfoque descriptivo-exploratorio, esta investigación busca conocer, a través de una combinación de métodos, el uso y la organización del tiempo en las escuelas primarias en México, las actividades desarrolladas por el profesor y los factores que ayudan a explicar la organización del tiempo. Para lograrlo, se utilizó observación estructurada y videograbada de la práctica en el aula. Los resultados muestran que solo la mitad del tiempo es dedicado a interacciones educativas entre maestro y alumnos. Así, el estudio del tiempo en el aula va más allá de la duración del día escolar. El énfasis se coloca en los periodos en que los estudiantes están involucrados en experiencias significativas de aprendizaje en la escuela.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Time at school and time for learning are not synonymous. However, we know little about the gap between them. From a descriptive/exploratory focus, this study attempts to discover, through a combination of methods, the use and organization of time in Mexico's elementary schools, the activities teachers develop, and the factors that help to explain the organization of time. To this aim, structured, videotaped observation of classroom practices was used. The results show that one-half of classroom time is dedication to educational interactions between teachers and students. Thus the study of time in the classroom goes beyond the duration of the school day. The emphasis is on the periods that students are involved in significant learning experiences at school.]]></p></abstract>
