P. Royen) es un fruto exótico con amplio potencial comercial, sin embargo es altamente perecedero, por lo cual un incremento en su vida de anaquel contribuiría a promover su comercialización. El 1-metilciclopropeno (1-MCP) es un producto que ha sido efectivo para prolongar la vida de almacenamiento en diversos frutos debido a que inhibe la acción del etileno ocupando los sitios receptores de esta hormona. Por ello la presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar los cambios en la calidad de frutos de chicozapote tratados con 1-MCP (100 y 300 nL L-1) y almacenados a 14 °C por tres periodos de almacenamiento (10, 20 y 30 d). Los resultados mostraron la efectividad del 1-MCP en retrasar significativamente (p&#8804;0.05) el proceso de maduración del chicozapote reflejado principalmente en mayor vida de almacenamiento (38 d).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Sapodilla (Manilkara sapota (L.) P. Royen) is an exotic fruit with high commercial potential. However, it is highly perishable, thus an increase in its shelf-life would be an important contribution for promoting its commercialization. 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is a product that has been effective for prolonging storage life in diverse fruits, due to the fact that it inhibits the action of the ethylene occupying the receptor sites of this hormone. Therefore, the objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the changes in the quality of sapodilla fruits treated with 1-MCP (100 and 300 nL L-1) and stored at 14 °C for three storage periods (10, 20 and 30 d). Results showed the effectiveness of 1-MCP in significantly delaying (p&#8804;0.05) the ripening process of sapodilla, mainly reflected in longer storage life (38 d).]]></p></abstract>
