<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1405-27682026000100181&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1405-27682026000100181&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1405-27682026000100181&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Ormosia macrocalyx, comúnmente llamada colorín en el sur de México, es un árbol nativo de Mesoamérica, que para las comunidades rurales tiene una diversidad de usos; desde las semillas en la artesanía, hojas y corteza en la herbolaria tradicional, hasta la madera que por su dureza es muy utilizada en la construcción de muebles y casas. Sin embargo, el uso desmedido y el manejo no sustentable ha traído como consecuencia que actualmente sea catalogada como especie en peligro de extinción. La finalidad de esta investigación fue analizar el proceso germinativo, con el fin de generar información que permita desarrollar alternativas de conservación y manejo sustentable. A las semillas recolectadas, se les determinó el peso (g), largo (mm) y ancho (mm), mediante la prueba de tetrazolio se analizó la viabilidad y para el proceso de germinación se aplicaron tres tratamientos pregerminativos. Se aplicó un diseño completamente aleatorio. El tamaño de las semillas en promedio fue de 10.85 ± 0.54 mm de largo y 9.95 ± 0.54 mm de ancho, con un peso de 0.61 ± 0.08 g, presentaron 100% ± 2.44 de viabilidad. El proceso germinativo de las semillas escarificadas inició a los 12 días después de la siembra (dds), obteniéndose 83% de germinación alta en comparación con el testigo que fue de 31.33%. Esta especie requiere de tratamientos de escarificación para acelerar el proceso germinativo y obtener un mayor porcentaje final de germinación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Ormosia macrocalyx, commonly known as colorín in southern Mexico, is a native tree with various uses in rural communities. Its seeds are used in handicrafts, its leaves and bark in traditional herbal medicine, and its wood, due to its hardness, is utilized in furniture and house construction. However, uncontrolled exploitation without sustainable management has led to its classification as an endangered species. The objective of this research was to analyze the germination process of its seeds to generate information that could help develop conservation and sustainable management strategies. Seeds were collected to determine their weight (g), length (mm), and width (mm). Viability was assessed using tetrazolium, and three pre-germination treatments were applied. A completely randomized design was used. The average seed size was 10.85 ± 0.54 mm in length and 9.95 ± 0.54 mm in width, with a weight of 0.61 ± 0.08 g. They exhibited 100% ± 2.44% viability. The germination process of scarified seeds began 12 days after sowing (DAS), achieving 83% germination, significantly higher than the control (31.33%). It is concluded that this species requires scarification treatments to accelerate the germination process and increase the final germination rate.]]></p></abstract>
