En México, estas selvas cubren aproximadamente el 16.3% del territorio nacional, entre las que destacan las selvas medianas en Tabasco por su particularidad en el hábitat y vegetación. En Tabasco se encuentra una selva mediana perennifolia ubicada en el ejido Villa de Guadalupe, Huimanguillo, que, a pesar de su relevancia ecológica, ha sido poco estudiada en cuanto a su estructura y diversidad arbórea. En el sitio se establecieron cinco unidades de muestreo (UM) de 600 m² (20 x 30 m) de manera aleatoria. Cada UM se subdividió en seis subunidades de muestreo (SUM) de 100 m² (10 x 10 m) para facilitar el inventario de las especies arbóreas. En cada UM, se midió el diámetro normal (DN) y la altura total (Ht) de todos los individuos arbóreos con DN &#8805; 2.5 cm. Para la diversidad se calcularon los índices de orden 1 (1D) y orden 2 (2D), y se evaluó la equidad con el índice de Pielou (J&#8217;). La jerarquización de las especies se realizó mediante el cálculo del Índice de Valor de Importancia (IVI) y el Índice de Valor Forestal (IVF). En este estudio se identificaron 59 especies de árboles en cinco unidades de muestreo, con una notable abundancia de Astrocaryum mexicanum y Brosimum alicastrum. La diversidad arbórea, medida a través del índice de diversidad verdadera 1D y 2D y la equidad de Pielou (J&#8217;), mostraron variaciones entre las unidades, de las cuales la UM 4 fue la más diversa y la UM 5 la que presentó mayor equidad. El estimador Bootstrap indicó una eficiencia de muestreo del 84.51%. Los índices de Valor de Importancia (IVI) y Valor Forestal (IVF) destacaron a Oecopetalum mexicanum y B. alicastrum como las especies más relevantes en términos de dominancia y cobertura. La riqueza y la abundancia de especies arbóreas en esta selva mediana aún conservada reflejan la complejidad de las interacciones ecológicas y la influencia de factores microambientales, que favorecen a algunas especies como B. alicastrum que es conocida por permitir la regeneración del ecosistema y facilitar la coexistencia de la biodiversidad arbórea.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Tropical rainforests are ecosystems that exhibit high biological diversity. In Mexico, these forests cover approximately 16.3% of the national territory, with the medium rainforests in Tabasco standing out for their unique habitat and vegetation. In Tabasco there is a medium-sized evergreen forest located in the ejido Villa de Guadalupe, Huimanguillo, which, despite its ecological relevance, has been little studied in terms of its structure and arboreal diversity. At the site, five sampling units (UM) of 600 m2 (20 x 30 m) were randomly established at the site. Each UM was subdivided into six sampling subunits (SUM) of 100 m2 (10 x 10 m) to facilitate the inventory of tree species. In each UM, the normal diameter (DN) and total height (Ht) of all tree individuals with DN &#8805; 2.5 cm were measured. For diversity, order 1 (1D) and order 2 (2D) indices were calculated, and equity was evaluated with the Pielou index (J&#8217;).
