Ardisia compressa Kunth de la familia Primulaceae es una especie vegetal ampliamente distribuida en el Sur de México, cuyo follaje tiene enorme potencial como fuente de productos botánicos para el control de plagas en la agricultura. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la actividad biológica de extractos etanólicos (EE) de hojas de A. compressa sobre B. tabaci y F. oxysporum, así como determinar el perfil cromatográfico mediante cromatografía de gases acoplado a espectrometría de masas (GC-MS) de los extractos. Se emplearon 10 poblaciones silvestres de A. compressa recolectadas en el Estado de Chiapas. Por cada población se obtuvo su respectivo EE al 0.2 % (p/v). La evaluación del efecto tóxico contra B. tabaci mostró que los extractos Tila Coquijaz alto (TCA) y Yajalón río Pupiltillo (YRP) causaron mayor mortalidad de huevos (98 y 99%) y de ninfas (97 %). Los extractos Tila Coquijaz alto (TCA) y Chilón Tiaquil (CTia) causaron mayor efecto de repelencia de adultos (38 y 30%) y los EE Chilón Joybé carretera (CJC) y Tila Coquijaz centro (TCC) causaron la mayor disuasión de oviposición (28 y 26 %). La evaluación de actividad antifúngica (100 y 200 µg mL-1) sobre F. oxysporum, mostró que el extracto CJC causó la mayor inhibición de crecimiento micelial (75 y 79%). El análisis de correlación mediante mapas de calor mostró que los efectos de toxicidad y repelencia de los extractos etanólicos de A. compressa sobre B. tabaci, estuvieron asociados con las mayores concentraciones de ácido oleico, ácido 9Z-12Z-15Z-octadecanotrienoico, ácido octadecanoico, 3-etil-5-(2-etilbutil)-octadecano, (Z)-18-octadec-9-enolida y &#947;-Tocoferol. De la misma manera, los mayores porcentajes de inhibición de crecimiento micelial para F. oxysporum estuvieron asociados con las altas concentraciones de neofitadieno.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The whitefly B. tabaci and the fungus F. oxysporum cause high economic losses in horticultural crops. Ardisia compressa Kunth from Primaulaceae family is a plant species widely distributed in Southern Mexico, which has enormous potential to develop botanical products for pest control in agriculture. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the biological activity of ethanol extracts (EEs) from A. compressa leaves on B. tabaci and F. oxysporum, as well as to determine the chromatographic profile of the extracts by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrum (GC-MS). Leaves of 10 wild A. compressa populations from the State of Chiapas were collected and processed. Each A. compressa population obtained its respective EE at 0.2% (w/v). The evaluation of toxic effects against B. tabaci showed that Tila Coquijaz higt (TCA) and Yajalón Pupiltillo River (YRP) extracts caused the highest mortality of eggs (98 and 99 %) and nymphs (97%). The evaluation of repellent activity showed that Tila Coquijaz higt (TCA) and Chilon Tiaquil (CTia) extracts had a greater effect on adults (38 and 30%), and Chilon Joybe road (CJC) and Tila Coquijaz center (TCC) extracts caused the highest oviposition deterrence (28 and 26%). In the same way, the mycelial growth inhibition of F. oxysporum was associated with a high concentration of neophytadiene.]]></p></abstract>
