La propagación clonal, es una herramienta biotecnológica que promueve la producción de biomasa genéticamente idéntica al progenitor en corto tiempo, lo que lleva a la obtención del material vegetal en condiciones controladas, para su posterior análisis biológico. En este trabajo se cultivaron esquejes de S. elegans en sustratos sólidos activos, inertes y en solución nutritiva, bajo dos condiciones de luminosidad: C1= 13.91 y C2= 4.94 (µmol.cm2.seg-1). Se evaluó el crecimiento y desarrollo foliar (densidad estomática, área y color); con las plantas obtenidas de ambas condiciones, se obtuvieron extractos hidroalcohólicos de partes aéreas y raíces. Se analizaron químicamente con cromatografía de capa fina y se evaluó la actividad antiinflamatoria mediante el ensayo de edema local-inducido con TPA (12-O-Tetradecanoilforbol 13-acetato). El mayor crecimiento de esquejes y densidad estomatal de las hojas se observó en C1. El color de las hojas, parámetro sensible a la luminosidad, mostró diferencias entre C1 y C2. Por otro lado, en todos los extractos de C1 y C2 se detectó ácido oleanoico y ursólico mientras que solo aquellos de C2 revelaron presencia de flavonoides. El mayor efecto antiinflamatorio se observó en los extractos de las partes aéreas y de raíces de C1. Las variables establecidas en C1 para cultivar esquejes de S. elegans, promueven el crecimiento, así como los parámetros morfométricos asociados al desarrollo foliar (densidad estomática, área foliar y color) y aumentan el efecto antiinflamatorio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Salvia elegans Vahl has shown to induce anxiolytic, antidepressant, immunomodulatory, and antihypertensive effects, with potential pharmacological properties that could be applied in clinic assays. Clonal propagation is a biotechnological tool that promotes biomass production genetically identical to the progenitor in a short time, which leads to obtaining plant material under controlled conditions for further biological analysis. In this study, S. elegans cuttings were grown in solid substrates, which were chemically active or inert as well as in a nutritive solution, under two light conditions: C1= 13.91 and C2= 4.94 (µmol.cm2.seg-1). Growth and leaf development (stomatal density, area and color) were evaluated; hydroalcoholic extracts of aerial parts and roots were prepared with the plants obtained from both conditions. They were chemically analyzed with thin layer chromatography and the anti-inflammatory activity was assessed by local edema-induced with TPA (12-OTetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate). The highest cutting growth and leaf stomatal density were observed in C1. Leaf color, a light-sensitive parameter, showed differences between C1 and C2. In addition, Oleanoic and Ursolic acids were detected in all the extracts from C1 and C2, while only those from C2 exhibited the presence of flavonoids. The greatest anti-inflammatory effect was found in C1 aerial and root extracts. Established parameters in C1 to cultivate cuttings of S. elegans, promote growth, enhance morphometric parameters associated with leaf development (stomatal density, leaf area and color) and increase the anti-inflammatory effect.]]></p></abstract>
