Se llevó a cabo un estudio comparativo de variables dasométricas en plántulas de seis meses. Se utilizaron 172 individuos divididos al azar en dos grupos, con y sin poda del meristemo apical. Se registraron medidas como altura total, altura y longitud de rebrotes, y número de rebrotes por tratamiento. Además, se estimaron la relación biomasa seca aérea y subterránea con una submuestra de diez individuos por tratamiento. Para la altura total, altura y longitud del rebrote, biomasa seca aérea y radical se realizó una prueba t de Student para muestras independientes y para corroborar la independencia de los tratamientos en los individuos con rebrotes se aplicó una prueba de Chi-Cuadrada. Los resultados revelaron que no hubo diferencias significativas en la altura total, relación de la biomasa seca aérea y subterránea entre los grupos. La presencia de rebrotes no se vio afectada por el tratamiento aplicado. La longitud promedio de los rebrotes alcanzados por individuos con poda es mayor que los sin poda.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Proper pruning of Brosimum alicastrum individuals in the nursery is essential to promote healthy and balanced growth of young plants. A comparative study of dasometric variables was conducted on six-month-old seedlings. A total of 172 individuals were randomly divided into two groups, with and without apical meristem pruning. Measurements such as total height, height and length of sprout, and number of sprouts per treatment were recorded. Additionally, the aboveground and underground dry biomass ratio was estimated with a subsample of ten individuals per treatment. For total height, height and length of sprout, aboveground and root dry biomass, a Student&#8217;s t-test for independent samples was performed, and to corroborate the independence of treatments in individuals with sprouts, a Chi-Square test was applied. The results revealed no significant differences in total height, aboveground and underground dry biomass ratio between the groups. The presence of sprouts was not affected by the applied treatment. The average length of sprouts achieved by pruned individuals is greater than that of unpruned ones.]]></p></abstract>
