Sin embargo, aún existen algunas áreas donde este matorral ha alcanzado la madurez y se encuentra en buen estado de conservación. Se evaluó la variabilidad estructural, en composición y la diversidad de una comunidad de matorral espinoso tamaulipeco, en el Noreste de México. Se muestrearon 10 localidades, en cada una de ellas se establecieron 10 sitios de 10 x 10 m (100 sitios en total). A cada individuo leñoso se midió su diámetro basal (d 0.10 &#8805; 4 cm), su altura total (h) y su identidad taxonómica. Se determinó área basal, cobertura vertical del dosel, volumen (de madera), riqueza de especies, abundancia, densidad de individuos y diversidad beta. Se realizó un análisis de varianza y como prueba post hoc la prueba de Tukey. Se registraron 30 especies, 26 géneros y 15 familias. La riqueza de especies osciló entre 3.90 ± 1.1 y 6.2 ± 1.22, el área basal varió de 7.8 ± 4.4 a 14.1 ± 10.9 m2 / ha, en cuanto al cobertura se presentó una sobreposición de las copas en ocho de las 10 localidades. Cordia boissieri, Havardia pallens, Senegalia greggii y Vachellia rigidula se encontraron en las 10 localidades evaluadas. Las Fabaceae dominan las áreas de matorral maduro, y la similitud de las localidades es intermedia-alta. Las localidades presentan una alta variabilidad en abundancia, área basal, área de copa y volumen de madera, presentando diferencias significativas (p&lt;0.05).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The tamaulipan thornscrub is one of the plant communities most affected by land use change in northeastern Mexico. However, there are still some areas where this scrub has reached maturity and is in a good state of conservation. The structural variability, composition and diversity of a Tamaulipas thornscrub community in northeastern Mexico was evaluated. Ten locations were sampled, in each of them 10 sites of 10 x 10 m were established (100 sites in total). The basal diameter (d0.10 &#8805; 4 cm), total height (h) and taxonomic identity of each woody individual were measured. Basal area, vertical canopy cover, volume (of wood), species richness, abundance, density of individuals and beta diversity were determined. An analysis of variance was performed and the Tukey test was used as a post hoc test. 30 species, 26 genera and 15 families were recorded. Species richness ranged between 3.90 ± 1.1 and 6.2 ± 1.22, basal area varied from 7.8 ± 4.4 to 14.1 ± 10.9 m2 / ha, and canopy cover overlapped in eight of the 10 locations.
