Benth.) es una planta comestible distribuida ampliamente en México, particularmente en la región Ngiwa de Puebla. Con la percepción los usuarios obtienen conceptualizaciones funcionales, emocionales y abstractas de diversos productos en su entorno cultural. Los objetivos fueron: a) aplicar de la psicología social un método de la mercadotecnia para identificar las rutas de influencia de los valores humanos en el consumo del guaje rojo; y b) determinar los significados que consumidores nativos le otorgan a la planta. Se aplicó una encuesta a 200 consumidores preguntando la importancia de algunos atributos tangibles del guaje y de un conjunto de 40 valores humanos; se mostró una imagen del guaje y se solicitó mencionar tres palabras relacionadas con ella. Mediante análisis factorial se generaron factores usados en la construcción de modelos de regresión lineal múltiple. Tres modelos fueron ajustados para estimar los coeficientes de correlación múltiple RModelo1, RModelo2 y RModelo3. Tales modelos fueron conformados por: consumo en función de factores de atributos tangibles; consumo en función de factores de valores humanos más residuales de atributos tangibles; y consumo en función de factores de valores humanos. Una prueba de k-proporciones y el procedimiento de Marascuilo se aplicaron a frecuencias de palabras agrupadas por afinidad. La ruta directa se obtuvo de la diferencia RModelo2 - RModelo1 (&#916;R); y la indirecta de RModelo3 - (&#916;R). La influencia directa no resultó significativa, indicando que los valores humanos fluyeron a través de la importancia de los atributos tangibles. El guaje rojo presentó mayor comunalidad de significados utilitarios (70.7%), dentro de estos, las mayores comunalidades fueron gastronomía (29.45%) y economía (22.75%); la menor comunalidad fue conservación de semillas (1.15%). Dentro de los significados psicológicos simbólicos, las mayores comunalidades fueron hedonismo (11.47%) e identidad (9.18%).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Red guaje (Leucaena esculenta (DC.) Benth.) is an edible plant widely distributed in Mexico, particularly in the Ngiwa region of Puebla. Users obtain functional, emotional, and abstract conceptualizations of various products in their cultural environment through perception. The objectives of the study were: a) to apply from social psychology a marketing method to identify the routes of influence of human values on the consumption of red guaje, and b) to determine the meanings that native consumers assign to the plant. A survey was conducted with 200 consumers, asking about the importance of specific tangible attributes of guaje and a set of 40 human values. An image of guaje was shown, and participants were asked to mention three words related to it. Factor analysis was used to generate factors for constructing multiple linear regression models. Three models were adjusted to estimate the multiple correlation coefficients: RModel1, RModel2, and RModel3. These models were composed of: consumption based on factors of tangible attributes, consumption based on factors of human values plus residuals of tangible attributes, and consumption based on factors of human values. A k-proportions test and the Marascuilo procedure were applied to word frequencies grouped by affinity. The direct route was calculated as the difference RModel2 - RModel1 (&#916;R), and the indirect route as RModel3 - (&#916;R). The direct influence was not found to be significant, indicating that human values flowed through the importance of tangible attributes. Red guaje exhibited a higher communality of utilitarian meanings (70.7%), with gastronomy (29.45%) and economy (22.75%) being the most prevalent, while seed preservation (1.15%) showed the lowest communality. Among the symbolic psychological meanings, hedonism (11.47%) and identity (9.18%) had the highest communalities.]]></p></abstract>
